Purpose of the role : To provide an effective and accurate processing of patients specimens for laboratory testing within acceptable TAT s Perform general clerical and administrative functions that contribute to the effective operations of the laboratory. Hours: Rostered and rotating duties over 24 hours,7 days per week at either North Shore or Waitakere Hospital Laboratory sites. Equipment/Maintenance Personal Development and Training Other duties As directed by Service Lead or Team Leader Loading Analysers in other Laboratory Departments Statutory & Treaty of Waitangi obligations To recognize individual responsibility for workplace Health & Safety under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 Maintain equipment according to documented procedures and notify Service Lead of faulty equipment promptly Maintain up to date records of all maintenance Ensure adequate stock is maintained and work is not delayed due to lack of supplies To participate in staff training programmes and WDHB mandatory courses Maintain competency at a level that enables performance of duties to be at the standard expected of a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician Participate in progress and annual performance reviews to ensure continued personal development and performance Assist with other tasks that contribute and relate to the overall purpose of the position as directed by the Service Lead or Team Leader. To work in other areas of the laboratory loading analysers as and when required. Analysers are loaded following the documented procedures in each area. Competency and training records in these areas are kept current Ensures the professional and political integrity of WDHB by carrying out all functions in compliance of the Treaty of Waitangi and by demonstrating a serious commitment to keeping the treaty alive.
