Purpose of the role : Provide a high standard of clinical practice in the management and delivery of Rheumatology care for the people of the Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) region. KEY TASKS Clinical duties will be performed in a professional and effective manner Education is gained and given in formal and informal settings Research and review activities in accordance with WDHB policies and procedures Professional activities will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the service and the needs of the consultant EXPECTED OUTCOMES Outpatient clinics, minor surgery and inpatient consultations are conducted within designated timeframes Consultation of inpatients is at the request of the General Medical Senior Medical Officer s responsible for the patient All relevant clinical decisions should be clearly communicated to Resident Medical Officers and nursing staff The consultant will show a willingness to assist colleagues, providing advice, guidance and practical help when requested The consultant will show involvement in Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes of the Rheumatology Service Through example and supervision, the consultant will actively contribute to education and professional development of Resident Medical Officers in General Medicine The consultant will contribute to the education of other healthcare professionals through communication of clinical decisions and formal education sessions Participation in audit and research programmes being undertaken in the service as agreed by the Clinical Director The consultant will be expected to promote the service and the discipline of Rheumatology in a variety of settings Regularly attend Service Governance meetings Regularly attend regional Rheumatology meetings The consultant shall participate in the Continuing Education (CME) Progamme Statutory & Treaty of Waitangi obligations Ensures the professional and political integrity of Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 3
