Savanna s River City Reader Page 2 Big Meadows Highlights On a rainy and cold Halloween night, the residents of Big Meadows handed out candy to the trick or treaters of Savanna. This year we had almost 200 youngsters show up at Big Meadows. The staff and residents loved getting to see all the costumes and happy children. Big Meadows would like to thank all the people who donated candy for this year s Halloween, and all the residents who came up front to greet the children and their families.

On Halloween afternoon Big Meadows held their annual costume contest, which is open to staff and residents. This year we had a fairy princess, a witch, a clown, a beauty queen, a little devil, a Roman, a woman, and a person dressed as raining cats and dogs. Everyone had a very fun time. On Wednesday, November 13th, the Mest Manor Thespians came to Big Meadows and performed their adaption of Cinderella for our residents and the public. We thank the members of the group for coming to Big Meadows and performing for our residents.

Remember-before getting rid of unwanted holiday decorations and craft items our activity department is always taking donations. For more information or questions please call Jaime at 815-273-2238. On December 19th at 6:30pm the New Spirit Band will be performing their annual Christmas Concert at Big Meadows. Community Coffee will be Wednesday December 11th at 9:30am in the dining room. The event is open to all ages. Big Meadows joined forces with others in the community to make Savanna a Winter Wonderland this Christmas by decorating one of the vacant businesses downtown. We chose the former Boss Office Supply building so when you re downtown check out our window and the beautiful nativity scene that was made by resident Carol Perrin. Santa for Seniors has once again chosen to adopt our residents this holiday season. Gifts will be delivered December 23rd at 10am. A Christmas tree with items wanted is located in Sullivan s. The residents have been busy making ornaments for the Festival of Trees that is from December 7th-15th downtown in the Savanna Museum and Cultural Center. Remember to vote for your favorite tree. HINT, HINT!
