This role has accountability for monitoring and reviewing clinical governance and risk management practices necessary in the provision of specialist remote professional counselling. They have responsibility for overseeing On the Line s quality assurance and other practice initiatives, ensuring that they evolve to match clinical need while meeting best-practice clinical benchmarks. Clinical Leadership Provide authoritative clinical advice and guidance to clinical and other On the Line staff as required Develop, implement and review the annual Clinical Leadership Plan aligned with the organisation s strategic goals Ensure appropriate clinical standards and governance measures are in place across all Monitor clinical risk, clinical governance and clinical performance at organisational and individual counsellor levels Co-ordinate accreditation requirements Conceptualise, plan and implement clinical As required, represent On the Line at conferences, networking opportunities Clinical advice and support is provided when required Annual Clinical Leadership Plan in place aligned with strategic goals Clinical policies and procedures developed and disseminated as required, and reviewed annually or when required. Clinical policies and procedures accommodate emerging trends in clinical risk Expert advice provided in a timely manner for clinical risk, governance or performance issues Annual American Association of Suicidology (AAS) self-audit completed, and documentation prepared for the 5-year onsite AAS audit Full engagement in the development of tender proposals, with clinical matters articulated and reflected in the submission Preparation and acceptance of conference abstracts highlighting On the Line s unique involvement in remote professional counselling Represent On the Line at relevant clinical networking opportunities. Team Lead and manage Clinical portfolio teams Regular meetings with all Clinical portfolio teams Clinical staff are engaged in regular scheduled clinical supervision Feedback measures indicate clinical supervision is meeting supervisees needs Supervision records are accurate and up to date Annual Individual Performance Reviews undertaken Annual work programs and priorities for each clinical team reflect and support On the Line s strategic and operational intent, Operational protocols in place, including indicators for alerting Head of Innovation and Operations of unacceptable, unresolved clinical risk Clinical Clinical Service Models Advise as to the appropriate selection of Clinical staff Provide expert advice to inform performance management processes Oversee clinical service models for all On the Line s. Develop evidence-based clinical service models for new. Project manage implementation of clinical service models for new Clinical portfolio teams involvement in counsellor recruitment as required All counsellors allocated a clinical supervisor and attending regularly scheduled (monthly) clinical supervision Participation in 24/7 On call clinical support In conjunction with relevant stakeholders, ensure existing clinical service models are reviewed annually and reflect best practice Ensure that all new clinical service models reflect best practice and tender requirements Implement new clinical service models, including delivery of internal training within agreed timeframes On the Line Australia Position Description: Page 3
External Relationship Ensure effective working relationships with external clinical or similar agencies Effective clinical networking Research Undertake research opportunities, when allied with delivery of clinical Other responsibilities Other responsibilities, where required Established effective working relationships with external agencies Clear client management plans in place, understood and utilised by counsellors and other clinical staff Clinical presentations and publications, when appropriate SELECTION CRITERIA ESSENTIAL Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in psychology or related discipline, and appropriate Experience / Knowledge: postgraduate degree or higher in clinical psychology Registration with the Australian Psychological Society, or equivalent membership Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to men s issues and demonstrated ability to apply counselling approaches relevant to these issues and needs Knowledge of and experience in crisis counselling, suicide prevention, child abuse and family violence issues Demonstrated experience in the governance of clinical risk Demonstrated ability to conceptualise, design, implement and review effective systems for clinical quality assurance Demonstrated experience in providing clinical guidance to staff using clinical guidelines and a current evidence base to inform clinical decision making Demonstrated management expertise, particularly in relation to planning and implementing clinical programs and supervising clinical staff Demonstrated team building and leadership skills and the capacity to work effectively with a diverse range of people Well developed project management skills and attention to detail Other: This position requires participation in the out of hours On Call Clinical Support roster for the Counselling Centre SELECTION CRITERIA DESIRABLE Experience in writing abstracts and presenting at conferences CAPABILITIES and ATTRIBUTES Ability to motivate individuals and teams Strategically focused with the ability to make high level decisions High levels of personal and professional accountability Ability to develop rapport with external and internal parties On the Line Australia Position Description: Page 4
