Purpose of the role : To deliver quality dental care to a client group within a team under the direction of the Team Leader, Clinical Director as per legislation, within resource allocation to improve oral health. Key Tasks Expected outcomes Monitoring of results by 1) Clinical Service Delivery To provide a group of clients with dental care, which meets their needs by using up to date professional knowledge and skills & following safe Clinical practice. 2. Clinic Administration To organise clerical and administrative tasks efficiently and effectively i) Current clinical and health education standards are met and maintained and protocols are adhered to. ii) Confident and relaxed patients in Clinic environment. iii) Infection control standards are met and maintained. iv) There is active participation in discussions around service planning v) There is adherence to legislation affecting dental therapy i) Client receives dental care when due and necessary ii) Records are complete, accurate and timely. iii) Time is used effectively iv) Equipment is properly cared for and maintained. v) Stores inventory is adequate but not excessive. i) Clinical audit relating to: a) Diagnosis b) Treatment planning c) Operative dentistry d) Preventive methods and procedures. e) Infection control procedures f) There is delivery of appropriate dental health education ii) Observation and discussion during clinic visits iii) Feedback from the community. i) Monitoring project of work. ii) Record, equipment and inventory audit iii) Observation and discussion during clinic visits. 1. PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Dental Therapist Qualification Minimum New Zealand Diploma or Certificate of Dental Therapy issued by the Department of Health/Ministry of Education/ Otago University Or equivalent Preferred Degree Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health Experience Practice experience preferred Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Good communication skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment High standard of clinical skills Sensitivity to different cultures Good organisation skills Personal Professional appearance and manner.
