ACCREDITATION / ASSESSMENTS / APPROVALS Our College was awarded the B++ grade (2.77 CGPA) by the NAAC peer team which visited our campus in the first week of August this year. It was the second cycle of accreditation and it was an enormous achievement considering the C grade that we secured in our first cycle of accreditation six years ago. The Local Management Committee of the College met on October 7, 2016, to assess the college performance and discuss the following: a) admission status 2016 17 b) review of NAAC peer team visit c) review of first term activities d) library budget and e) analysis of second year results. The Local Inquiry Committee (LIC) consisting of members nominated by the affiliating University of Mumbai, visited our college on October 8, 2016, in order to assess and evaluate the necessary documents, to deem the college eligible for continuous affiliation to the University of Mumbai. The team appointed by the University for the same comprised of : Prin. (Dr.) (Smt.) C. T. Chakraborty (Convener) Thakur College of Arts, Science and Commerce; Dr. Iyengar Shrinivasan Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and Prof. Mahalaxmi Krishan Somaiya College of Arts & Commerce. On November 26, 2016, an internal administrative audit was conducted. The internal auditors appointed for the same were the Accounts subject teachers. The office staff successfully underwent the audit.
STAFF PROGRESSION Dr. Meeta Pathade participated in the 1 st National Teachers Congress, held at Pune and organized by MIT, Pune, between September 23-25, 2016. Ms. Megha Nair was deputed by the College for a one week NSS Orientation Programme, from October 13 19, 2016, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports at the B. P. H. E. Society s Ahmednagar College, at Ahmednagar. Ms. Liily Chwda was deputed by the College for the RUSA sponsored Short Term Course on Contemporary Strategies of Teaching and Evaluation, organized by the UGC HRDC, Academic Staff College, University of Mumbai. The programme was held during October 13 19, 2016. Ms. Renita Vazirani was deputed by the College for the RUSA sponsored Short Term Course on Understanding Learner Dynamics, organized by the UGC HRDC, Academic Staff College, University of Mumbai. The programme was held during November 7 12, 2016. On November 13, 2016, Dr. Meeta Pathade visited the Butterfly Bounty organized by BNHS (Bombay Natural History Society). On November 26, 2016, a full-day training program, Productivity at Workplace, was organized for all the teaching and non-teaching staff members. This was conducted by Mr. Yazdi Tantra, who is a Board member of the Institution. The initiative was taken by the Department of Computers in association with On-Lyne Comtech (India) Pvt. Ltd. The training covered how to extensively use Evernote and the added features of Google. Ms. Byshi Panikar, was deputed for the ASQ Ahmedabad LMC s 6th Annual National Conference on Quality Management which was organized by Nirma University, Ahmedabad on November 26 27, 2016. NSS Session on Tobacco Awareness at National College - A one day seminar was organized by National college on tobacco awareness among youth, on September 28, 2016, and fifteen volunteers participated in the same. Ghandhi Bhajan Sandhiya - To commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of the nation, on October 2, 2016, the Sarvodhay Mandal oraginzed a Gandhi Bhanjan Sandhya function at the Gateway of India, and twelve volunteers participated in it. Rally for Anti-Dowry - Sathye College organized a One Day Rally on November 26, 2016, where twenty volunteers participated. In this programme, a short film on the theme Constitution Day was screened.
Student activities A select few students are identified, trained and groomed to perform better at the University examinations. For this Academic Performance Meetings are conducted on a predetermined weekday. This began in the last week of August this academic year and continued till the end of the term. The Alumni Association organized the Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol Making Competition on September 21, 2016. The objective of this event was to initiate a thought process in the minds of the young to conduct the festival with fervor to protect the environment. The Department of Management conducted a Case Study Presentation and Solution Competition on September 23, 2016, for the BMS and BBI students. Case studies were given to the students and they had to analyze the same and present it. The Department of Management took the students of BMS program for a single day industrial visit to Igatpuri on September 28, 2016. The firms visited were Pramod Fibre Parts, a premier manufacturer of qualitative range of FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastics) products and the second company visited was a manufacturer of automobiles spare parts. The Placement Cell in collaboration with Technoserve, commenced a short term program on employability for the alumni in mid September. At the conclusion of this program, job interviews will be provided to the participants. To commemorate the birth anniversary of our late 11 th President, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, on October 15, 2016, the Department of Library organized an Essay writing competition on the topic, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam An Example to Follow. On October 16, 2016, a PTA meet was organized in which there was a mutual exchange of ideas and activities that can be conducted for students development. Guest lectures The Department of Computers, organized a lecture for the students on October 7, 2016, on the topic, Effects of Excessive Use of Internet. The resource person invited was Prof. Prajakta Joshi, Dalmia College. The Department of Economics, invited Dr. Saraswathy Swaminathan, Vice- Principal & HoD (Economics), SIES College, on October 10, 2016, to deliver a guest lecture to the B. Com., BMS and BBI students on the topic, FDI in India After Liberalization. The Department of EVS organized an expert lecture for the F. Y. B. Com. students on October 10, 2016, on the topic, Economic Development and Ecological Imbalance. Dr. Umesh Kakade, Professor, Department of Botany, Institute of Science, Mumbai was invited for the same.

Com. - Assistant Deputy General Secretary Celebrations After the NAAC process was completed, the Chairman as a token of his appreciation of the intensive and extensive efforts put in by the staff, arranged for a get-together accompanied by lunch at the Bombay Barbecue, Bandra on August 30, 2016. Teachers had a day filled with celebrations as the Teachers Day was celebrated on September 3, 2016. Students conducted games and arranged for felicitating the teachers on the day. The mingling with students was followed by a treat from the Management. The Management as a token of their gratitude towards the well wishers of our college, who also supported us during the NAAC process, were treated to a lunch at the Govindas, ISKCON. The Student Council organized Garba Dance on October 8, 2016, to celebrate the Navratri festival. Students purchased passes for the same and it was full of fun and frolic. Showcasing art talent Shweta Gaud and Mangal Gaud represented our College at the National Musical and Cultural Symphony organized by the Ministry of Cultural Government of India, from October 18 20, 2016. They were trained to play the Tutari at College and hence got an opportunity to showcase their talent at the event. Sonal Apishte, Shagufta Kazi, Jayashree Kadam and Lalita Nandoskar were selected to represent the College at the India International Trade Fest 2016, organized by the Cultural Ministry, Government of Maharashtra, from November 14 27, 2016.
Sports Three students participated on October 2, 2016, in the Mumbai Mini Run organized by the Kalina Community at Bandra Kurla Complex. The Department held the College Cricket team selection on October 10, 2016. The Sports Department on October 13-14, 2016, organized indoor games, namely, Table Tennis and Chess for the staff members. Eliminations and final rounds of the games were conducted. Six students participated in the Bombay State Level Athletics organized by the Bombay YMCA on November 24 26, 2017, at the Mumbai University Stadium, Marine Lines.
