ANNOUNCING! LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS! AVAILABLE TO THE CLASS OF 2017 Listed below are the names and eligibility requirements of local scholarships to be awarded to 2017 Twin Valley seniors. Please read over the list of requirements and determine your eligibility. Please access the application online through the Local Scholarship link under the SENIORS tab of the High School website. When completing your application, remember to use spell check and copy/paste all essays from a word document. Please note that all applications sent to committees for review will be anonymous. The due date for all applications is April 3, 2017. Applications will be accepted after the due date, but be aware that some committees begin meeting as early as April 4 so if your application is not yet submitted, your application could be excluded from those committees reviews. 1. EHRGOOD EDUCATIONAL TRUST A $200 scholarship will be awarded to a senior who has been accepted to any institution of post high school training. Recipient will be selected by committee appointed by TVHS Principal. 2. ELVERSON-MORGANTOWN LIONS CLUB MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Elverson-Morgantown Lions Club Memorial Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000. $500 will be given at the time of the student s successful completion of the first semester of college and $500 at the successful completion of the second semester. To be eligible for this scholarship, the recipients must live in Elverson, Caernarvon Township, West Nantmeal Township or Robeson Township and have completed two years at Twin Valley High School at the time of graduation. Students must be enrolled in a four-year college program or a twoyear program with credits transferring into a B.S. degree (a nursing school program toward R.N. certification would also be acceptable). The recipient must have been involved in community service and have maintained at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA while at Twin Valley High School. Once enrolled in college, the student must submit a copy of their first and second semester college transcripts and must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA each semester to receive the scholarship award. Preference will be given to students who have been active with the Leo Club in middle or high school. 3. HONEY BROOK LIONS CLUB - JAMES J. BARR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is awarded to a Twin Valley senior entering a four-year college or a twoyear technical or business school program. The award will be based on the applicant's scholarship, character, school and community participation, attitude and need. The applicant must reside in Honey Brook Borough or Honey Brook Township. 4. HONEY BROOK LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is awarded to a Twin Valley senior entering a four-year college or a twoyear technical or business school program. The award will be based on the applicant s scholarship, character, school and community participation, attitude and need. The applicant must reside in Honey Brook Borough or Honey Brook Township. 5. KEN AND MARY SUMMERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount of $5,000 will be given to a student entering a four-year college or two-year technical or business program. Criteria include superior academic achievement, outstanding leadership and school and community involvement. Selection will be made by the Twin Valley High School Scholarship Committee. 6. HONEY BROOK WOMEN'S CLUB A scholarship awarded by the Honey Brook Women's Club in the amount of $500 to one Twin Valley senior who plans to further his or her education by attending a college, business, trade or technical school. To qualify for this scholarship the student must be a resident of Honey Brook Borough or Township. Payment of $500 will be paid directly to the student at the awards program. This scholarship will be awarded to a student not receiving any other local scholarship available to Twin Valley seniors. 7. HONEY BROOK ELEMENTARY CENTER PTO SCHOLARSHIPS (2 Awards) The Honey Brook Elementary Center PTO scholarship awards are one $1,000 award and one $500 award to Twin Valley seniors who plan to further their education by attending a college, business, trade or technical school. To qualify for these scholarships, the students must have attended the Honey Brook Elementary Center. The

applicant must indicate the number of years they attended Honey Brook Elementary Center and complete a minimum of 100-word essay on My Most Memorable Moment at Honey Brook Elementary. Recipient must submit first semester grades showing a minimum of 3.0 GPA to the Honey Brook Elementary Center PTO scholarship committee to receive the scholarship. 8. ROBESON ELEMENTARY CENTER PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION AWARDS (2 Awards) These two awards are for $1,000 each, granted to two students accepted at any accredited institution of post high school training. To qualify for these scholarships, the student must have attended Robeson Elementary Center. The applicant must indicate the number of years they attended Robeson Elementary Center and complete a 250-word essay on My Most Memorable Moment at Robeson Elementary. 9. TWIN VALLEY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP The TVEA offers two $3,000 scholarships to students of the graduating class who plan to attend an approved or accredited institution of higher education. Priority will be given to students entering the field of Education. The applicants must prepare a typewritten multi-paragraph essay (300 words or less) explaining future plans and financial need. The winners will be chosen by the TVEA upon recommendation from the committee composed of elementary and secondary teachers. To be eligible for this scholarship, the students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA throughout their first and second semesters. Two payments of $1,500 will be issued following the committee s receipt of grades for each semester. Recipients of the scholarship shall also demonstrate character and integrity in stewardship of the school. Failure to comply with the aforementioned requirements may result in the loss of scholarship. 10. TWIN VALLEY ELEMENTARY CENTER PIE AWARD OF MERIT The TVEC PIE will present one award of $1,000 to a senior who attended the TVEC and who is entering an accredited college program of two or more years from which credits may be transferred toward a B.S. degree. Award is based upon academic performance, school and community involvement and personal objectives. All applicants are required to submit an essay on The most memorable person and/or experience at TVEC that inspired me toward my future goals. The essay must be a minimum of 100 words. Student must also indicate the number of years he/she attended TVEC. Recipient must submit first semester grades to scholarship committee in order to receive the scholarship. 11. DOROTHY S. GROFF MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount TBD will be awarded to a senior who has been an outstanding student on the basis of their mathematical ability, overall character, and attitude toward school and community. Priority for this scholarship may be given to a student who desires to teach mathematics. Consideration will be given to students entering a college major in a science field requiring a heavy concentration in math or a minor in math (i.e., engineering and industrial technology, applied sciences, physical sciences, business and management, pharmacy, pre-medical, computer science, teaching of mathematics, etc.) Applicants must have a GPA of 3.4 or higher; must have attended Twin Valley High School at least one full year or more by the application date, and must have demonstrated proficiency in their math selections. Students must submit an essay on the following topic: How will mathematics benefit you in your future career? All essays associated with this application must be typed--no handwritten information will be accepted. Applicants must also be available for a brief interview by the TVCEF on a date to be announced. This scholarship will be paid in two installments. The payments will be issued upon receipt of grades at the end of the first and second semesters, respectively. In order to receive scholarship payments, the recipient must continue to major in a math related field. All checks will be made payable to the student s college. 12. BETTY M. MOULDER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP (2 Awards) Two scholarships in the amount TBD will be granted to (2) Twin Valley seniors attending a four year college majoring in Elementary Education. These students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in their major field of study to continue to receive the scholarship. All checks will be made payable to both the student and the accredited institution. A break in enrollment will disqualify the applicant from future scholarship payments. 13. TWIN VALLEY MUSIC BOOSTERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP One to three scholarships in the amount of $500 will be presented to a graduating senior who has been accepted at an accredited institution of post-high school training. The recipient(s) must have participated in one or more of the following: Band, Chorus, Orchestra or Band Front for at least two years. In addition, the students must

have participated in music activities beyond the curriculum such as County, District or Regional music festivals, high school musicals or pit orchestra, piano accompaniment, A Capella Choir, competition jazz band (Green Machine), competition percussion ensemble, and/or Tri-M music honor society activities. The award will be based on character, attitude and school community participation. A second scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to a senior who meets the above qualifications and intends to major in music at the post-secondary level. Applicants will write a 1 to 2 paragraph essay pertaining to their musical interests and plans (post-graduation) as well as list their involvement in music activities while in high school. Also, please tell us how your parents have supported the music program. Recipients will submit their first semester grades with a GPA of at least 2.5 to have the scholarship check released. 14. KRAPF FAMILY EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP The purpose of the "Krapf" Scholarship is to recognize a student who has demonstrated good citizenship, school/community leadership, has earned at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA for 3 years in the Twin Valley School District. The annual selection of each recipient shall be made a committee appointed by the Principal. The amount of the scholarship shall be $1,500. 15. TWIN VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENT INVOLVEMENT COUNCIL These two awards are for $1,000 each, granted to two students pursuing a 2- or 4-year degree that have been accepted at any accredited institution of post high school training. Applicants shall have been involved in sports, extra-curricular clubs and/or a community service; shall have a GPA of at least 3.0; and shall have attended TVMS for at least three years. The applicants must indicate the number of years (grades) they attended TVMS and shall submit a TYPED essay of approximately 250-300 words on the following topic: Share an experience or teacher that you had at Twin Valley Middle School that influenced your educational goals or area of study in college. Recipient will receive a check for $1,000 after a copy of their first semester college grades are submitted to TVMS Parent Involvement Council. In order to receive the check, grades must be passing. 16. ROTARY CLUB OF TWIN VALLEY Rotary s motto is service above self. Therefore, the purpose of the Rotary award is to recognize a collegebound student with good character and extensive community service activities. Applicants must write a 500- word essay on the following: For Rotary, the Four Way Test is the cornerstone of all action of the things we think, say or do: Is it the Truth? Is it Fair to all concerned? Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships? Will it be Beneficial to all concerned? What recent action have you taken in your life that reflects the Rotary Four Way Test? For example, have you participated in a project or offered volunteer services that exemplify Rotary s Four Way Test? The recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship. 17. ELVERSON GARDEN CLUB Elverson Garden Club will award a $300 scholarship to a senior who has been accepted by any college, university, or technical school with the purpose of studying horticulture or a related curriculum, including but not limited to floral design, forestry, environmental studies and landscaping. 18. LELIA MOUNTZ-HILDEBRAND SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount of $250 will be awarded to a senior entering college, trade, business or technical school, to study for a career in the Business Field. 19. THE BEVERLY J. PARIS SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to a Twin Valley Senior planning post-secondary training. This award is given in memory of Beverly Paris, a dedicated, respected educator who taught in the Twin Valley School District. The student must exemplify the personality characteristics Mrs. Paris brought to her profession such as a positive outlook, warm personality, and an interest in people.

20. TWIN VALLEY COMMUNITY EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS Two Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each will be awarded to seniors who have demonstrated outstanding community service. The emphasis will be placed on community service beyond school club activities during their high school career. Applicants must be seniors attending a post-secondary institution in the summer or the fall of their graduation year. Applicants must have completed two academic years at Twin Valley and be enrolled full time as Twin Valley seniors at the date of application distribution in order to be eligible for this scholarship. Students must submit a list of their community service activities they participated in during high school, along with a typed essay, no longer than 2 pages, (no handwritten materials will be accepted) regarding how these activities affected both their personal life, as well as their future aspirations. While GPA will be considered by the TVCEF Scholarship Committee, all GPAs are encouraged to apply. The award checks will be given during the evening of the senior awards program. 21. BONNIE MCCLAY WRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to a Twin Valley senior planning to further his or her education in at least a two-year program leading to a degree in music, education or business, with special consideration given to an average student who may not qualify for other scholarships. The recipient of this award must exhibit many of the same personality characteristics that Bonnie McClay Wright brought to her position at Twin Valley High School, including a cheerful personality, a willingness to help others and an interest in extra-curricular school activities. 22. CLASS OF 1975 ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount of $250 will be awarded to a senior who is a son/daughter (grandson/granddaughter) of a Twin Valley Alumni and who plans to further his or her education by attending a college, business, trade or technical school. The award will be based on the applicant s scholarship, character, school and community participation, attitude and need. This scholarship will be awarded to a senior not receiving any other local scholarships available to Twin Valley seniors. Applicants should verify their connection to a Twin Valley Alumni in a sentence or two. Applicants can be related to ANY Twin Valley alumni, scholarship is not limited to the Class of 1975. 23. ZACK SAINT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP A scholarship in the amount of $500 awarded in memory of Zack Saint. The recipient must be a Twin Valley athlete attending a 2- or 4-year college or trade school. 24. CHARLIE FILLMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Honey Brook Elementary PTO will be offering one scholarship in the amount of $500 for a student going on to a technical or trade school offering no more than an Associate Degree. This scholarship is in memory of Charlie Fillman, a student that graduated from Twin Valley. The applicant must complete a minimum 100-word essay on My Most Memorable Moment in Elementary School. To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must have attended any Twin Valley School District school. Recipient must submit first semester grades showing a minimum 3.0 GPA to the HBEC PTO scholarship committee to receive the scholarship. 25. BERKS CO. COMMUNITY FOUNDATION JAN MILLARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP A $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a senior member of the boys cross country team who has been accepted into a program to further his education/training. The scholarship is in memory of Jan Millard, a member of the Twin Valley High School Cross Country team from 1991-1993. Applicants must be continuing their education after high school at a two- or four-year college, university or vocational school. The applicant must portray leadership, commitment, and unselfish dedication to his team. A character reference from the Twin Valley Cross Country Coach will be considered. The scholarship will be paid after the student successfully completes his first semester of classes at his school of choice and submits his transcript to BCCF along with a letter indicating his intent to complete another semester. Applicants must attach a typed essay addressing the following: "In your own words, state why you are continuing your education and what impact being part of the Twin Valley Cross Country Team has had on you as a student and athlete." 26. HAY CREEK WATERSHED ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP The Hay Creek Watershed Association is offering one $250 scholarship to a graduating senior. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has at least a 3.0 GPA and must be pursuing a course of study in physical science or environmental studies at an accredited institute of higher learning. Applicants must also submit an Activity Resume showing evidence of involvement in/or actions related to environmental issues and/or concerns within the community.

Applicants are to submit a 250-word essay regarding their career objectives and how they are linked to their involvement in environmental activities. Selection will be made by the school scholarship committee. The check will be made payable to the student. 27. CLASS OF 1982 Must plan to pursue college, business, trade or technical school. Must have demonstrated community involvement during your high school career. Must submit brief essay explaining your community involvement, and how you intend on impacting, improving and/or benefitting the community with the career path you have chosen. 28. PEG KAUFFMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP This award was created in memory of Peg Kauffman, a loving wife and mother who was very involved in the Twin Valley Community. Peg s desire was to create a scholarship specifically for students who are first in their family (including parents) to pursue a college education. This scholarship is contingent upon successful completion of the first semester at a four-year college with a GPA at or above a 3.0. 29. TWIN VALLEY BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP Twin Valley Basketball Association (TVBA) will offer $1,500 in scholarships. TVBA will select one (1) male and (1) female recipient. If two deserving candidates are unavailable, TVBA will select the best overall candidate. To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must have participated in TVBA or basketball at the Twin Valley YMCA either as a player or a volunteer. Scholarship applicants must submit an essay describing their experience with TVBA or the Twin Valley YMCA Basketball league. Please describe how these organizations helped you grow as a student, an athlete and as a person. 30. TVHS NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP NHS MEMBER ONLY Twin Valley NHS will be offering one scholarship in the amount of $500. Applicant must submit a 300-word essay that shares a personal NHS experience which has made a lasting impression. Only NHS members are eligible to apply. 31. RON PHILLIPS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is offered to an applicant with 3.0 or higher GPA, planning to attend a 4-year accredited college or university in the state of Pennsylvania, majoring in Environmental Science, Wildlife/Fisheries or similar major. 32. DENNIS & BETSY KRAUSS LEO CLUB SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is to honor and commemorate the outstanding community service to the Twin Valley Community and beyond provided by Twin Valley Middle School and High School Leo Club members. Applicants must be graduating seniors, attending a two- or four-year college, trade or technical school that have maintained a B average in the classroom while being actively engaged in community service. Preference will be given to a Leo Club member if eligible academically.
