Primary Purpose This position is to work in collaboration with the Professional Lead for Social Work to provide operational leadership and coordination of the Social Work Team based at Tauranga Hospital. It will support Social Work delivery and ensure the DHB health priorities and the unique features of the WBOP community are taken into consideration.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Outcomes Provide clinical and operational leadership and advocacy for the Social Work team Raising the profile and value of the Social Work Service across Allied Health, the DHB and the community Working with the Social Work Professional Lead to build and maintain a culture of excellence in professional conduct, personal responsibility and accountability within the service Working with the Social Work Professional Lead to ensure consistency in application of Social Work Practice Standards To manage and coordinate daily operational services ensuring that workloads are shared equitably and quality Social Work support is provided to clients Provide Social Work consultation regarding Clinical Social Work issues to management as required Develop and implement best practice guidelines, policy and procedures to ensure quality and timely service delivery Working with the Professional Lead and the Executive Director Allied Health Scientific and Technical in developing Social Work service plans that are aligned to the strategic direction of the BOPDHB. Maintain an independent caseload Team Management and Performance Teaching and Training Responsibility for the Social Work budget Managing Microster of direct reports Managing ordering of supplies to ensure smooth running of the service. Working with the Professional Leader, oversees Performance Development Process and staff reviews Promotes effective teamwork and collaborative relationships across the MDTs and areas of practice. Implements the processes for recruitment, training, orientation and professional development and retention of staff. Provides continuing education opportunities for colleagues in conjunction with professional leader, contributing actively to Social Work professional development programmes Ensures own and teams compliance with relevant ethical, legal and professional requirements Demonstrates skilled mentoring, teaching and supervision of Social Work team.

Clincial Research and Service Development Health and Safety Quality Encourage and support team members to develop and coordinate evidenced- based pilots to improve and enhance Social Work delivery across the various areas of practice. Facilitate and encourage relevant clinical research projects and ongoing service development programmes to identify areas of improvement Undertake audits of casework across the service with the aim of ensuring high standards and equitable service provision Builds and maintains relationships with other health organisations, Social Work institutions and support student placements as necessary. Complies with all BOPDHB Health & Safety Policies and Protocols Lead/facilitate staff and patient safety Every staff member within the Bay of Plenty DHB is responsible for ensuring a quality service is provided in their area of expertise. All staff are to be involved in quality activities and should identify areas of improvement. All staff are to be familiar with and apply the appropriate organisational and divisional policies and procedures. Manages Datix reports pertinent to service, identifying trends and ensuring loops are closed allowing for learnings from issues raised. Monitoring the quality of care delivery via developing and maintaining appropriate audits and associated quality assurance activities. Developing a culture of, and assisting with with quality improvement activities based in improvement science. Person Specification Essential Desirable Qualifications Tertiary qualification Postgraduate qualification NZ Registered Social Worker Current Annual Practising Certificate Experience Minimum of 5 years experience as a health professional in a complex environment Having successfully fulfilled a like role previously Demonstrates success in working to a competent level of skill across a range of patient services, both independently and as part of a Multidisciplinary team. Provides clinical and professional leadership Previous involvement with service development and planning Provides Professional supervision Health Sector experience Participates in and as appropriate leads quality initiatives Possesses a clean drivers licence for manual and automatic cars Values Demonstrates behaviours consistent with the BOPDHB values. You agree to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks to promote and support BOPDHB initiatives. You are required to meet the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 requirements as set out in the BOPDHB Health and Safety policies and protocols. This includes completing successfully any health and safety training provided by the BOPDHB. You are required to maintain a standard of health which will allow for the performance of all duties and functions of the position. All BOPDHB sites are smokefree environments.

You must notify employer of concerns relating to the risk of harm to the public of another health practitioner practicing below the required standard of competence. 5. Know the provisions of the SWRA as the governing legislation.
