8 BACKGROUND / HISTORY OF WASHINGTON MAPPING PROGRAM Critical Incident Planning and Mapping System (CIPMS) began in 2001 HISTORY Program authorized by statute in 2003 RCW 36.28A.060 Software is called Rapid Responder Completed mapping of every public K 12 school in state in 2009 Completed the mapping of all 34 community colleges in June 2011 Also mapped over 100 critical infrastructure sites, public buildings Also completed nearly 100 Buffer Zone Protection Plans New ICS Tools implemented April 2011 Use of the system is Free

18 Scenario CNN reports that the tsunami has now hit Homer, Alaska video footage shows significant damage to waterfront buildings, including an elementary school. At least 30 are known dead, and many more are believed missing. SCENARIO
