Cited in the U.S. Senate Record for forming and being elected Commander of the only campus based chapter of the Disabled American Veterans in the United States in history, and for activism in initiating a movement to make the campus at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, more accessible for all handicapped students. 3. Bowen [future Secretary of HHS in the Reagan Administration] to serve on a select committee for the State of Indiana for the Employment of the Handicapped [Chaired by L. Keith Bulen, future Reagan Administration White House appointee]. 4. This elected position oversees the activities of national fund raising initiatives and educational and training programs of the Foundation Candidate for U.S. House of Representatives [Withdrew prior to primary election due to other commitments in veterans organization affairs.] [November]-Selected to be Chairman of the MOPH Foundation s Investment Committee. This training focused on trends in corporate and personal gifting to non-profit organizations, securing corporate and other major level donations, and strategic planning for non-profit organizations Presented the Florida Veterans Medal at a ceremony in Tampa, Florida, by Governor Rick Scott, for meritorious service rendered to Florida s veterans and their families Selected by the American Health Care Association to be a speaker at their national convention held in Nashville, TN. The topic was If I Lead, Will You Follow? Awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash award by Indiana Governor Mike Pence. This is the highest award the Governor of Indiana may bestow upon a recipient Inducted into the Florida Veterans Hall of Fame for honorable service to veterans, active duty military, and military retirees. Induction service was held at the Florida State Capitol Building.
