1 Appendix 1: Definitions and Acronyms A1.1 Definitions ACCEPTABLE QUALITY LEVEL: The acceptable performance level of the contractor. The AQL must be met for performance to be considered satisfactory. ALLOCATED LABOR: Labor that can be identified to an end product. BATTERY RECLAMATION: Operation to determine and accomplish battery reusability. CERTIFICATION: A formal guarantee for meeting a standard. COMPUTER BASED TRAINING: Electronic training courses CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT: The management, coordination and tracking of changes or element structure for a specific program or project. CRITICAL RUNS: Critical runs are weapon runs that require rapid feedback to determine setup options for subsequent runs. DATA LIBRARY: An organized collection of data/information, systematically maintained for easy use. ENGINEERING CHANGE PROPOSAL: A design change that is either in the approval process or has been approved and is in the implementation process. FISCAL YEAR: The Government Fiscal Year is 1 October through 30 September GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE: The government individual who is the main technical point of contact for a specific subtask. HELP DESK: An individual(s) who provides or coordinates assistance to users of a specific program. I-LEVEL MAINTENANCE: (Intermediate Level Maintenance) Maintenance requiring a higher level of skill because it is beyond the capabilities of the operating activity. INDICATOR: A method of measuring a process or procedure. INVENTORY: A physical count performed to determine the on-hand quantity of an item or group of items,
2 MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET: A manufacturer supplied document that identifies the product and lists the chemical composition, physical/chemical properties, fire hazard, health risks, reactive data, precautions for safe handling and use, control and proper storage measures. ORDNANCE: Ammunitions, any explosive type of material. O-LEVEL MAINTENANCE: (Organizational Level Maintenance) Maintenance activities performed by the operating activity in support of day-to-day operations. OBSOLESCENCE: The state of being out of date or superseded by current technologies or innovations. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Any equipment, clothing, gear, shoes etc. necessary to protect the safety of the employee. PRELIMINARY: Draft version provided for feedback or input prior to preparing final version. SHOP ORDER: Planner s written instructions to the shop telling them what they are to do and how they are to do it. SPONSOR OWNED MATERIAL: Material purchased by a customer (sponsor) for use by the performing activity in accomplishing sponsor-related work. READY FOR ISSUE: Item that is prepared and available for use. REQUISITION: Authoritative demand or request for supplies or services on authorized form for such request. SHIPPING REQUISITION: DD FORM 1149, Requisition and Invoice/Shipping Document used to ship or transfer items/material/equipment from one activity to another TECHNICAL DATA PACKAGE: Documentation related to work performed TROUBLE CALLS: Notification of a problem called into a designated point of contact that will coordinate corrective action. UNLIQUIDATED OBLIGATIONS: Obligations established for material or services which have not been received. No expenditures have been processed to liquidate the outstanding balance. VISIT REQUEST: A formal document requesting visitation at another government facility, including the dates and purpose of the visit. Visit requests are necessary for both contractor and government employees.
