6 9 We house two major research institutes: the Postgraduate Medical Institute (PMI) and the Childhood and Youth Research Institute (CYRI). The Postgraduate Medical Institute (PMI) Is a partnership of currently 22 members involving all the NHS Acute Hospitals, Primary Care Trusts and Mental Health Trusts in Essex, plus Essex County Council, Ramsay and Nuffield Hospitals, The Royal Society for Public Health, Hospices and the faculties of Anglia Ruskin University. Bringing together clinical expertise and academic resource across our region it supports clinicians in the development of education, research and innovation, on a national and international level. Research at the PMI The PMI constitutes a Clinical Research Centre (CRC) at the heart of a network of research-active partner organisations. This collaborative network supports research along the care pathway from ill-health prevention and primary care, mental health and community services to acute hospital and specialist tertiary care. These interests are coordinated into distinct Research Units where the PMI brings academic rigour to scientifically important research while its NHS partners focus on its patient-centric delivery. The Institute supports limited pre-clinical investigations, which is secondary to its substantive portfolio of translational clinical research. Pre-clinical research is undertaken in collaboration with those partner organisations best placed to undertake laboratory-based studies. It is the role of the PMI to drive the results of pre-clinical studies into evidence-based and translational medicine. Research Units Include: Minimally Invasive Surgery ICENI Centre Colchester In line with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) priority to foster home-grown surgical research, the ICENI Centre is a hub of surgical excellence that focuses on research and education in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery techniques in a high tech learning environment. The St Andrew s & Anglia Ruskin (StAAR) Research Unit for Burns and Plastic Surgery The St. Andrew s Plastic & Burns Centre is the internationally recognised tertiary centre providing services for adults in the East of England and for children across the South and East of England. In collaboration with the PMI, StAAR was born to support research looking at both the aesthetics and function of burns and plastic surgery patients; the Unit has a particular interest in wound healing. Essex Cardiology The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (ECTC) is a relatively recent addition to Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the region s second tertiary centre. The PMI is currently supporting the development of a joint research unit in Cardiology which will, in the first instance, focus on Electrophysiology (EP). The Health and Wellbeing Academy The South Essex Partnership Trust (SEPT) is the UK s leading mental health trust. As part of a joint venture, SEPT and the PMI are establishing an International Academy to support health research along the care pathway, and with an initial focus on dementia. This research will be delivered in conjunction with the Academy s international partners, including Yale and Pavia Universities and the University Teknologi Mara (Malaysia). The Medical & Bio Engineering Centre The centre has an outstanding record over 20 years of working with medical consultants in the design and development of a wide range of medical devices particularly in orthopaedics. The centre s Medical Engineering Laboratory boasts specialised equipment that enable: (i) The analysis of healthy, pathological, and athletic movement patterns form improved clinical treatment and sports performance. (ii) Computer simulation facilities for predicting relative performances of surgical fixation techniques and implant designs. (iii) Materials testing of soft tissues. (iv) The development of medical devices for improved medical practice. The Vision & Eye Research Unit (VERU) Achieved a world class research rating in the latest government Research Assessment Exercise. VERU is recognized as an Internationally Excellent centre with a wide range of research interests but a particular emphasis on common conditions that affect both young and old, for example, myopia, cataracts, glaucoma and dry eye. The Anglia Ruskin Clinical Trials Unit (ARCTU) Bringing academic rigour, at a commercial standard, to the National Health Service The PMI represents a vehicle for multi-centre clinical trials, and, following a classic model of academic collaboration with acute NHS Trusts across Essex and Hertfordshire, has develop a joinedup, pre-registration Clinical Trials Unit. ARCTU is unique among University-led trials units; the unit is a cooperative of its partners and founded on the principles of excellent customer service. ARCTU offers expertise in research design, statistics and health economics, performance, project and data management, ethical advice and experienced Clinical Research Nurse support to investigator-led primary and commercial research. The Unit has particular expertise in trialling medical devices and is a one-stop-shop for testing medical technologies. The PMI Simulation Centre A world class simulation laboratory has been commissioned to train multiprofessional healthcare teams to improve their management of crisis events. The facility allows clinicians to practice unusual and rare procedures in an environment where patients are not put at risk. The simulation centre not only provides a regional hub for this increasingly important training, but is also developing research related to improving outcomes of the acutely ill or deteriorating patient. The PMI also provides a programme of workshops, conferences, short courses and masters level courses. For further information on the services we offer please visit our website The Childhood and Youth Research Institute Is a multi-disciplinary initiative bringing together the diverse expertise of academics from a variety of disciplines who share an interest in childhood and youth research or scholarship. It aims to integrate research from all faculties of the University, thereby bringing critical mass and interdisciplinary perspectives to shape research, policy and practice. Anglia Ruskin has a longstanding history of excellence in child-centred fields as diverse as social justice, children s health and ophthalmology, education, children s book illustration and music therapy for children. A major focus of the Institute is the well being of children and young people and including their voices in our research. You may, for example, have to attend once a week over a semester, every couple of weeks, or five times over the course of the module. A few modules are delivered via an initial block of learning (two to three days) with tutorial support. This is supported by the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). DISTANCE LEARNING (D) Some modules and courses are offered entirely online. Once you have registered on a module, all of the course documents, assessments and learning activities are delivered through an e-learning environment. This learning space also has discussion and chat rooms where you can communicate with tutors and other participants on the module or course. If the distance learning module/course is also work-based learning, you are likely to be assigned a mentor via the VLE. FLEXIBLE & DISTRIBUTED LEARNING (F) A number of our modules and courses are delivered through flexible and distributed learning. This requires minimal, or no attendance at the University. Flexible means that although the course starts on a specific date you can choose to study at a time that suits you. Distributed means that part, or all of the learning, is delivered at a distance, usually via electronic media. This means that you can study with us whether you are local, living elsewhere in the country or are based overseas. WORK-BASED LEARNING (W) Work-based learning offers you - and your employers - the opportunity for learning in, from, and through work to gain academic credit. It is also a form of learning that aims to transform individual and organisational practice. Courses are designed to enable employees (practitioners, clinicians and/ or managers) to reflect on their work experience, skills and products critically within an academic framework. As the main focus of learning is in the workplace, attendance is usually minimal, supported by e-learning tutorials and resources. Learning support may also involve a mentor and workplace visits by the module leader/tutor. Assessment of Work- Based learning tends to be by portfolio or project work, rather than by conventional assignments. BESPOKE TRAINING We can also tailor many of our modules and workshops to meet specific needs, providing completely bespoke training solutions for organisations either on site or at a venue of their choice. FUNDING Our Continuing Professional Development portfolio aims to help professionals develop their knowledge and skills and support their career advancement. Tuition fees for all academic courses, modules and workshops can be funded in a variety of ways: Self-funded Employer-funded Payment by a sponsoring organisation, professional organisation or charitable trust If you are a member of staff at NHS Hospital and Primary Care Trusts in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, we have an annual Education Contract with the East of England Strategic Health Authority where places on educational courses are supported. If you are seeking assistance with your fees, check with your employer to see if funding is available before accepting a place on your chosen course. The full-time health visitors course now attracts 100% salary support at mid-point band 5, with 24% on costs. This support is only available for two years and for new students starting their studies. For more information on funding please visit our website ACCREDITATION OF PRIOR EXPERIENTIAL CERTIFICATED LEARNING (AP(E)L) We offer courses within a credit-based, modular system, which gives you flexibility in the content and structure of your studies. 12 21 Modules In addition to courses leading to academic awards the following CPD modules can be taken as stand alone modules. For a full range of modules please see Bespoke training available on request. Please contact healthcontractsteam@anglia.ac.uk or call Adult Acute Care 30 credits Level 6 & Level 7 Class-based learning & Supported by VLE The module aims to provide you with the knowledge necessary to care for the highly dependent and acutely ill patient. It provides you with the opportunity to explore the essential aspects of acute care for patients and carers in times of crisis. It recognises that individuals have the right to specialist care, regardless of location or speciality. Maintaining adequate tissue perfusion and oxygenation is essential for life. Compromise from any cause will lead to organ dysfunction, failure or even death. Through skilled assessment and interventions, you can be proactive in detecting and supporting the highly dependent and acutely ill patient. Essential Principles & Respiratory Support in Critical Care 30 credits Level 6 Class-based learning & Supported by VLE During periods of critical illness patients may require intensive monitoring and support to maintain homeostasis and facilitate recovery. The module aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to provide care for Level 3 critically ill patients and their families and significant others throughout the period of their critical illness. You will gain a deep understanding of normal and disordered physiology, which can be applied to the interpretation of clinical signs and data, and to the selection of appropriate interventions. The data will be derived from the use of a variety of assessment and monitoring techniques, which will be covered in the module and in clinical practice. The importance of developing key skills such as prioritisation, communication and team working will also be emphasised. This module will support the student to understand the key elements and develop the knowledge required to care for patients and their relatives following burns and plastic surgery within the critical care setting. Management of the Person Requiring Cardiac Care 45 credits Level 6 Class-based learning & Supported by VLE The module provides you with the opportunity to explore and develop the knowledge and skills required to meet the diverse acute and chronic needs of cardiac patients, their families and/or carers. It will focus on the assessment, monitoring, medical and surgical management of cardiac disorders. In order to receive care that is effective and of high quality, the cardiac patient is dependent upon nurses being skilled in arrhythmia recognition and 12 lead ECG analysis. There is a strong emphasis on the development of this skill and the knowledge of how to interpret and respond to potential and actual deterioration in the patient s condition. This will involve focusing on the haemodynamic effects of cardiac arrhythmias, their clinical presentations, and the various management strategies for cardiac arrhythmias. Principles of Respiratory & Thoracic Care 30 credits Level 6 Class-based learning & supported by the VLE Respiratory disease kills one in five people in the UK and costs the NHS over 6 billion. The Burden of Lung Disease (British Thoracic Society 2000, 2006) highlighted the huge health and economic burden of respiratory illness. Diseases of the lungs are a growing and real issue that cannot be ignored. Whilst the overall death rate is improving, for example deaths from lung cancer are falling, the report reveals that other lung diseases are increasing. Respiratory illness is complex and requires specific responses in prevention, management and treatment. The impact of lung disease has an effect not only on the patient, but also on their carers and the NHS. To meet the challenges and demands of caring for the respiratory and/or thoracic patient across the acute and chronic spectrum, nurses need to be equipped with an increased knowledge base and specialist skills to deliver high quality evidence-based care. The module is primarily aimed at registered nurses working in areas such as respiratory wards, thoracic surgery and critical care areas. Acute Care Maintaining Tissue Perfusion & Homeostasis in the Critically ill Patient 30 credits Level 6 Class-based learning & Supported by VLE Critically ill patients may present with a variety of complex needs which require a multi-professional approach to their management. The module covers identification and management of the patient with multi-organ dysfunction, alongside other complex conditions that provide challenges in care. The aim of the module is to develop practitioners who can respond to the ever-changing needs of the complex, Level 3, critically ill patient. There is an emphasis on understanding pathophysiology and on examination of the evidence on which to base practice. This will enable you to be proactive in providing evidence-based care and develop confidence in managing complex situations involving patients, their families and the multi-professional team.

It is suitable for a multi-disciplinary audience and so will be of interest to suitably experience mental health nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, care assistants and other professionals working or who have an interest in caring for older people who have dementia. ENHANCED ASSESSMENT IN MENTAL HEALTH PRACTICE & DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS 30 credits Level 6 Distance learning Assessment is the cornerstone of effective Mental Health practice (Gamble and Brennan 2006). This view has been extended to a range of contemporary policy documents and Guidelines (DH 2008, DH 2010, WHO 2008). These indicate that all service users and carers should actively participate in the assessment of their needs in order to inform their own recovery (SCIE 2008). Therefore mental health practitioners are required to engage with the principles of assessment as well as actual methods relating to their discipline and service area (Barker 2004). A critical appraisal of the practical application of a range of theoretical principles will enable practitioners to enhance their clinical reasoning. This module will allow practitioners to explore and discuss the complexities of a variety of assessment strategies and techniques that are pertinent to their speciality and consider the application of their new knowledge within the context of their own practice. Furthermore, students will be encouraged to utilise their own local and national policies, guidance and directives to support their academic enquiry. 19 35 EVIDENCE BASED INTERVENTIONS IN MENTAL HEALTH PRACTICE/LEARNING DISABILITIES 30 credits Level 6 Distance learning ADDITIONAL ALLIED HEALTH AND MEDICINE CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Practice 60 L7 W This module offers those working in a range of mental health settings the opportunity to critically review the theory and practice of engaging service users and their carers in contemporary therapeutic interventions (WHO 2008). It is essential that interventions are timely, appropriate and responsive in order for service users and their carers to maximise the benefits and integrate outcomes into their ongoing recovery (DH 2010). Therefore the spectrum of interventions ranging from prevention to treatment to continuing development will be examined. Students will focus on interventions that are pertinent to their current area of practice in order to ensure that the learning experience is meaningful and transferable into their practice arena. Students will analyse how socially inclusive practice influences participation and the results of interventions. This will be further discussed in relation to how evidenced-based practice can assist clinical decision making (DH 2008). A subjective and objective discussion will also be included regarding perceptions and measurement of intervention outcomes. This will generate a critical understanding of the role, function and rationale for interventions and provide vital considerations for future practice. Please contact healthcontractsteam@anglia.ac.uk or call ASSESSING & MANAGING RISK 30 credits Level 7 Work-based learning The assessment and management of risk has become a core social work activity through, for example, the emergence of safeguarding in both children s and adults social work. However, risk and risk assessment are diverse and complex subjects which have been conceptualised and analysed from multiple disciplinary perspectives. There are, for example, different views about: what constitutes risk; whether risk is regarded as negative or positive and in what context; what approaches to risk assessment should be adopted and what can and should be done about any risk, should it be promoted, managed, balanced, controlled, minimised or eradicated altogether. This module seeks to explore the contested nature of risk; to enable practitioners to better understand their own personal and professional attitudes to risk to critically apply models of and approaches to risk assessment in a real world context. BECOMING A PROFESSIONALLY CAPABLE PRACTITIONER 30 credits Level 7 Work-based learning This module is primarily designed to support the newly qualified social worker s transition from qualification and initial registration to becoming a capable practitioner through an assessed and supported year in employment. As the module can also accommodate the initial professional development needs of practitioners from other fields it is both interdisciplinary (addressing the learning needs of practitioners in child and adult care) and interprofessional in nature. The module will support the individual in their development as a critically reflective practitioner equipped to deal with complex cases in order to promote best practice in safeguarding, facilitation, assessment and interventions with service users and their families. The module will examine how practitioners can develop their professional capabilities (for example, professionalism, values and ethics, diversity, justice, knowledge, judgement, critical reflection and analysis, contexts and organisations, professional leadership) and sustain and extend their level of capability within the competing and changing demands of the practice arena. This type and level of engagement with the professional capability domains is critical as practitioners are now increasingly charged with upholding the public reputation of their profession. High Dependency & Intensive Care of the Newborn 45 credits Level 5 & 6 Class-based learning & Flexible & distributed learning Three courses are available: A taught course (Fulbourn) A blended learning course (Chelmsford) A flexible distributed learning course (FDL) delivered as an online, web-based course (Chelmsford) This theory/practice module is intended for registered nurses and registered midwives, who are working in a high dependency or intensive neonatal care setting. It includes theoretical and practical components to enable you to explore the concept of high dependency and intensive care, and to respond to the holistic needs of infants and their families. You will be encouraged to review the provision of high dependency and intensive neonatal care, and critically reflect upon your own practice, in the light of supporting evidence and national health policy directives. Using a critical approach to contemporary evidence, you will consider and critically analyse nursing and medical interventions that may be used in a high dependency or intensive care setting, to ascertain appropriateness, effectiveness, and best practice. Practice Learning & Mentoring 30 credits Level 7 Distance learning This module is for social workers new to practice education and those experienced practice educators who need to evidence their competence within the new Professional Standards for Practice Educators. The module forms part of the social work post-qualifying continuing professional development framework. It covers four domains: the learning environment, learning and teaching, assessment and continuing development. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to carry out the practice educator role on either an on-site or off-site basis. Students will engage in small group learning activities though our Virtual Learning Environment to develop a portfolio of practice and must provide a social work student with a placement of at least 70 days as part of their learning. Safeguarding Children & Young People 30 credits Level 7 Class-based learning Children and young people are affected by abuse in a number of ways. However, the reasons are dependent upon the culture and location of the society in which the child or young person lives. In this module you will deconstruct explanations of child abuse and safeguarding children and young people, and critically reflect upon the findings of research and inquiry reports. You will use your own personal reflections related to children and young people, offering professional insight into current policy and procedure. The module will enable you to critically evaluate your own knowledge and skills, which underpin your current practice. This will help you to take a more proactive and innovative stance when promoting the safeguarding of children and young people. Family & Community Studies Call:

28 53 Special and Transitional Care of the Newborn 30 credits Level 6 Class-based learning & Flexible & distributed learning The module includes theoretical and practical components to enable you to explore the concept of special and transitional care, and the needs of infants and their families in a holistic manner. You will be encouraged to review the provision of special and transitional care in the light of supporting evidence, and to reflect critically on your own practice. Using a critical approach to contemporary evidence, you will also consider and analyse nursing and medical interventions that may be used in the special or transitional care setting to determine appropriateness, effectiveness and best practice. 32 61 Modules In addition to courses leading to academic awards the following CPD modules can be taken as stand alone modules. For a full range of modules please see Bespoke training available on request. Please contact healthcontractsteam@anglia.ac.uk or call ADULT DYSPHAGIA TRAINING FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS 15 credits Level 6 Class-based learning The module provides an opportunity for healthcare professionals to learn the skills to manage patients with potential swallowing problems. At the end of the module, you will be able to carry out a competent assessment of swallowing status and nutritional needs, and manage uncomplicated problems. You will also be able to identify complicated swallowing problems which require referral to speech and language therapists. Successful management of patients with swallowing problems is crucial to prevent problems such as aspiration pneumonia, and to provide nutrition in an appropriate form promoting recovery. You will attend lectures, participate in workshops and undertake supervised clinical practice. ANTENATAL & NEWBORN SCREENING 30 credits Level 6 Flexible & Distance Learning The module is aimed at an interprofessional audience working with families who are offered antenatal or newborn screening. It will enable you to promote an understanding of the complex issues surrounding screening that is offered during pregnancy and the neonatal period. It will include an overview of the principles and factors which influence screening and screening provision. It will also include an outline of the conditions screened for, screening tests and ethical and professional issues. In order to complete the module assessment, you will be expected to apply your learning in a clinical practice setting. ADVANCED SKILLS in CLINiCAL ASSESSMENT for Health Professionals 30 credits Level 7 Class-based learning Nurses and Associate Health Practitioners, employed in a variety of healthcare settings, can offer the potential to provide same day consultation services for patients if their knowledge and skills are appropriately developed. Many primary healthcare nurses diagnose and treat patients who have minor ailments once they have had the appropriate education. Professional, ethical and regulatory issues are inherent in this development of the health professional s role. CLINICAL ASSESSMENT SKILLS for health professionals 30 credits Level 3 6 Class-based learning This module has been developed to provide an option module for students who do not have the history-taking, physical examination and diagnostic skills required to undertake and complete the non-medical prescribing module. It may be accessed by the student before starting the prescribing module, or at the same time. It follows the same format as the prescribing module. Therefore, you undertake teaching and learning in the university, and then develop and expand on new skills and learning under the supervision of a medical practitioner in your own clinical area of practice. EXAMINATION OF THE NEWBORN 30 credits Level 6 Class-based learning The module is aimed at healthcare professionals who have a responsibility for ensuring the health potential of the newborn infant. The content of the module will focus upon the specialist knowledge and clinical skills required to enable you to competently undertake a thorough examination of a newborn in your related area of practice. You will use this in-depth knowledge base to recognize deviations, and initiate appropriate care and referral. The Work-Based environment will provide you with an opportunity to undertake clinical examinations of the newborn. Critical reflection of these incidents will allow you to identify your individual learning needs, and to develop the scope of your professional practice. ISSUES IN CONTRACEPTION & REPRODUCTIVE SEXUAL HEALTH 15 credits Level 6 Class-based learning The module aims to introduce and develop an understanding of contraceptive and sexual healthcare. It enables you to explore and gain an understanding of all methods of contraception, gain insight into sexually transmitted diseases and the impact of sexuality on the individual, family and society. MANAGEMENT OF THE PERSON WITH DIABETES 30 credits Level 5 & 6 Class-based learning Diabetes affects every age group from childhood to old age. It is a complex metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycaemia in association with other cardiovascular risk factors. Recent research has provided unequivocal evidence that improved control of blood glucose and vascular risk factors delay and reduce the severity of diabetic complications. Primary & Public Health This module offers nurses the opportunity to enhance their existing knowledge and skills through a programme that integrates theory and practice and to help them acquire the competencies required to provide a consultation service for patients, to ensure safe and effective practice and to plan future development. You will be encouraged to draw on and share your own experience across disciplines, and emphasis is placed on collaborative working by students in evaluating current policies and practices, as well as in generating new ideas. Over the last decade, the government has introduced many initiatives to improve standards of care for people living with diabetes. The module is intended to reinforce the concept of interprofessional and partnership working in diabetes care. Therefore, it is essential that you acquire and develop a sound knowledge and relevant skills that incorporate all aspects of diabetes management, and are able to identify diabetes competencies applicable to your role, either in primary or secondary care. In addition, you will be in the unique position to help the person come to terms with having a long-term condition, and empower them to make choices about managing diabetes.

33 63 NON-MEDICAL PRESCRIBING Care of the Patient Having Chemotherapy 15 L6 C 30 credits Level 6 Class-based learning Care of the Person with Chronic Kidney Disease 45 L6 C The module aims to prepare nurses, midwives, specialist community public health nurses, allied health professionals and pharmacists to prescribe safely, appropriately and cost-effectively as independent and supplementary prescribers. This module also provides an opportunity for interprofessional students to debate, analyse and synthesise key issues within safe prescribing practice, and its contribution to healthcare. Cervical Screening: Theory & Practice Children & Bereavement Communication Skills in End of Life Care 15 L6 C C 30 L5 C COMMUNITY FORMULARY PRESCRIBING V credits Level 6 Class-based learning This module aims to prepare certain nurses and midwives to prescribe as Community Practitioner Nurse Prescribers, from the Nurse Prescribers Formulary (NPF). The module also aims to provide an opportunity for inter-professional debate and networking about safe prescribing practice and its contribution to healthcare. Community Practitioner: Nurse Prescribing Completion of Life Critical Policy Review Epidemiological Research Methods Essential Issues in Public Health Policy 15 L6 L7 C SYMPTOM MANAGEMENT IN PALLIATIVE CARE Essential Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis Skills 15 L6 C 30 credits Level 6 Class-based learning Ethical Issues of End of Life Care 15 L5 C Most health care professionals encounter dying people, but in palliative care supporting the dying and their loved ones is the work of specialist and advanced practitioners. Definitions of palliative care (cf WHO 2005) suggest an active and creative approach that attends to physical, psychosocial and spiritual dimensions of patient need. Central to this work is the palliation of symptoms because the disease is not responsive to curative treatment. The management of pain and symptoms is therefore at the heart of good palliative care. The module will provide students with the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of effective pain and symptom relief strategies, and will include both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methodologies. The broad bases of the treatment regimes recognise the breadth of the pain of death, which demands a holistic approach. Thus the concept of total pain will be considered, as will the associated notion of suffering. Under these circumstances the need for exquisite care practice highlights the value of the multi-disciplinary team. The module is designed for practitioners who work with palliative care patients and lead practice in any clinical and/or supportive care setting. The module will be assessed through 8 x 1000 word clinical protocols. WOUND MANAGEMENT 30 credits Level 6 Class-based learning Evidence Based Public Health Improvement Facing Death, Patients, Families & Professionals Introduction to Gerontological Practice Introduction to Palliative & End of Life Care Major Project Management of Individuals with Long-Term Medical Conditions Massage Skills for Palliative Care Practitioners Pain & Symptom Management in Palliative Care Practice in Contraception & Reproductive Sexual Health Principles of Palliative Care F L7 C 15 L6 F 15 L5 C 60 L7 F C 15 L5 C 15 L6 C C Primary & Public Health The module is based upon the student gaining knowledge in wound healing at a cellular level. You will be able to assess wounds of differing aetiologies in their clinical setting. Many wound healing technologies are advanced and nurses require skill to appraise and make informed decisions on the use of products and care strategies. Therefore, it is imperative that you acquire and develop sound knowledge of aetiology, physiology, and management and care of the individual with tissue viability needs. You will be able to explore wound care issues facilitated by the module leader.
