Fundamentally comprised of hospitals, medical practice, equipment, pharmaceuticals, biotech etc., the healthcare industry can also include other allied health activities. This is the fastest growing industry in the world today, represents one of the key economic activities of any nation, generating as much as 10 percent of the GDP. The availability of excellent medical care coupled with the demand for specialty services has led to the burgeoning of several avatars of the humble hospital and by extension allied services and industries, the world over. All this, places a tremendous demand on the availability of skilled labour not only in the form of medicos, but also in the managerial and leadership capacity in order that the services of the healthcare industry may be conceptualized and delivered in tune with their demand. 5 PROGRAM OVERVIEW The nine months Executive Program in Health Care Management provides working professionals in healthcare industry to develop management competencies and prepares them to take on leadership roles in their organizations. Health care sector is one of fastest growing sectors of the Indian economy with a CAGR of 15% and is expected to reach US $ 158 billion by Rising income, greater health awareness and increasing access to health insurance are expected to generate a strong demand for health care services. Government policy initiatives and increased plan allocation to healthcare are expected to provide further buoyancy to the industry. Hospitals account for major share of the revenues of the industry. The share of private sector is expected to touch 80% of the industry revenues by Health insurance is also gaining momentum in India and gross healthcare insurance premium is expanding at a CAGR of 39 per cent over FY This trend is likely to continue, benefitting the country s healthcare industry. The ever growing need of healthcare industry in education and training more relevant to the industry has opened up huge opportunities in education and training. As the pace of change intensifies, it is imperative that the healthcare organizations senior leaders and managers are prepared to adapt to these changes. The Executive Program in Health Care Management aims to help leaders, managers and key policy makers to identify, understand, assess and leverage the changing dynamics of Indian healthcare industry to their advantage. 7 PROGRAM DESIGN The Executive Program in Health Care Management has been designed in a way to enable high-performing fast track senior executives to pursue higher learning in formal management education without interrupting their careers. The entire program spans over nine months and is divided into 3 terms of 3 months each. Each term starts with a 2 day residency at, Manamai campus, and is followed by 4 online sessions every week for the rest of the term. The participants have to compulsorily attend the 4 residencies and are required to live on campus during the visits. Each of these residencies is followed by assignments / submissions in the form of application exercises based on what was learnt in the classroom.
