2 Promoting Nutrition Science and Education The Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) is Canada s leading society that integrates disciplines and professions interested in nutrition. The vision for CNS is that all sectors across the nutrition continuum have access to evidence-based nutrition science and information in order to support the optimal health of all Canadians. Our mission is to promote nutrition science and education, and advocate for best practices and policies that value the importance of nutrition to the health of all Canadians. In our outreach efforts to nutrition professionals and scientists, the CNS aims to provide a unified voice to allied professions and scientists whose practices and research includes a nutritional component this includes healthcare professionals, food scientists, academics, federal and provincial governments, the food industry, trainees, and the general public. As a CNS member, you will be a part of a society that has made it a mission to foster the next generation of skilled nutrition professionals and scientists with access to ongoing education and evidenced-based science. 3 MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES * watch the CNS website for details on the abstract deadline ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP Any individual who is a graduate of a post-secondary institution with a degree in a nutrition-related discipline and is employed in nutrition or a related field in government, health care, research or education may join CNS as an Active member. $155 (CDN) + applicable tax ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP Any individual who is a member of a provincially regulated health care profession and is not actively engaged in nutrition or a related field in government, healthcare, research or education may join CNS as an Active member. $155 (CDN) + applicable tax STUDENT MEMBERSHIP Any individual who is enrolled in and carrying at least a fifty percent (50%) course load for an undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate program of nutritionally oriented study may join CNS as a Student member. ** If you are registering as a CNS Student member, please have a program or academic advisor the CNS office (info@cns-scn.ca) in order to confirm your student status. $50 (CDN) + applicable tax YOUNG PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP Any individual who has graduated within the last two years from a post-secondary institution with a degree in a nutritionrelated discipline, and is employed in nutrition or a related field in government, health care, research or education may join CNS as a Young Professional member.
