MURRAY BRIDGE SOLDIERS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
2036 WILL MARK OUR STATE S BICENTENARY By the time our State turns 200 years old, I want South Australia to be a place of prosperity. Planning and delivering on my vision for a better future starts now. This policy is just one part of our plan to deliver a clear and responsible pathway to recovery and success. See where it fits in below 1.0 GROWING OUR ECONOMY 2.0 THE BEST EDUCATION SYSTEM 3.0 BEING A HEALTHY STATE 3.1 Protecting your health 3.2 Delivering person-centred care 3.4 Making health care accessible across the city and across the State 4.0 STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES 5.0 BUILDING OUR STATE 6.0 ENSURING SAFETY AND JUSTICE 7.0 PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT 8.0 EMBRACING OUR UNIQUE CULTURE 9.0 RUNNING AN EFFICIENT AND STABLE GOVERNMENT
The emergency department of the Murray Bridge Soldiers Memorial hospital is in dire need of investment.
THE PROBLEM In the last three decades, the demand for emergency services at the Murray Bridge Soldiers Memorial Hospital has doubled. Labor s failure to upgrade the facilities threatens the hospital s capacity to deliver quality services to a growing population. As well as serving residents in the local catchment, Murray Bridge Hospital often receives casualties from motor vehicle accidents on the nearby highway and its emergency department responds to over 6,000 presentations each year. The increasing population in the region and the construction of The Bend Motorsport Park at Tailem Bend further adds to the case for an upgrade. After years of inaction by the Labor Weatherill Government, the Hospital s emergency department is in dire need of investment. Currently, the lack of privacy in the facilities is highly distressing for patients and their families. Confined spaces in the ED contribute to an unsafe environment for patients and staff, particularly in relation to drug-affected patients and some patients with mental health issues. The Government has failed to act on the potentially dangerous inadequacies of the hospital. Although the Labor Weatherall Government has been aware of inadequacies in the ED structure for years, the Government has failed to act to rectify the situation. Active planning for an upgrade to the Emergency Department has been underway for at least four years. But the Weatherill Labor Government recently rejected the funding proposal. Labor s promise to catchup the country hospitals maintenance backlog over 10 years will do nothing to deliver much needed capital upgrades such as the Murray Bridge Emergency Department.
THE STATE LIBERALS PLAN The upgrade will provide: We will provide a $7 million upgrade to the emergency department. If elected in March 2018, a Marshall Liberal Government will upgrade the emergency department at Murray Bridge Soldiers Memorial Hospital. We will invest $7 million in the Hospital to improve its vital services. Two resuscitation bays Seven treatment bays Two procedure rooms Two consulting rooms Relatives Room Waiting Room with airlock Labor has rejected a funding proposal for this project. A Marshall Liberal Government will deliver. The $7 million upgrade will double the number of resuscitation and treatment bays and significantly improve the facilities, enhancing privacy and security.
Only a Marshall Liberal Government will deliver quality health care for Murray Bridge. Steven Marshall, State Liberal Leader
