2 Port Adelaide Business Support Program The State Government and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield are working together in partnership and with the local community to regenerate historic Port Adelaide. Port Adelaide is a place so richly engrained in our state s history; it s a history that will aid the evolution of the area and help to develop a place that s significant to modern day South Australia. This partnership is passionate about recreating a community with purpose and breathing more life into an undeniably unique corner of the world. This is all made possible through delivery of the Port Adelaide Precinct Plan (2012). The State Government is committed to supporting businesses in the Port. Various initiatives have been put in place since 2012; these have not only assisted businesses but have brought new and innovative ideas to the Port s central business district and breathed new life into unused spaces. And now, there s something even bigger. For the next three years a new business support program will be delivered in the Port, providing grants that support local businesses through building compliance and façade improvement. In addition businesses can also gain access to business support and mentoring. The plan is reigniting the Port and ensuring it can reach its full potential; having more people and businesses living, working, playing and investing here. The evidence of which can already be seen, with new commercial opportunities sitting alongside stunning heritage spaces and new community activities thriving alongside the old. Not to mention a natural environment which is able to flourish within a city. Port Adelaide Business Support Program 2

3 Port Adelaide Business Support Program Criteria This program has been designed to provide business support and mentoring to eligible businesses within the Port Adelaide central business district. Participation in this program will be determined via a formal application process and will be at no cost to the successful applicant. The program will be delivered annually for the next three years and limited to ten businesses per financial year. Who is eligible to apply? To be eligible to participate in this program applicants must: be a business owner located within Port Adelaide s central business district; have an appropriate business registration and registered Australian Business Number (ABN); and be willing to actively participate in this program. Assessment Criteria Applications will be assessed and prioritised based on: ability to demonstrate their eligibility to the program; the level of need demonstrated within the application; business development opportunities; business outcomes for the Port; and demonstrated commitment of the applicant to the program. Making an application The application process requires all applicants to prepare and submit a copy of the required documentation to Renewal SA for consideration. Failure to successfully complete the application process may result in the application being rejected. Terms and Conditions The application process for the Business Support Program will be on an ongoing, rolling basis with applications assessed on a monthly basis until the annual maximum number of program participants has been reached. Applications for this program must be properly completed and will be assessed within four (4) weeks of the application s receipt. Each application will be assessed against the prescribed criteria and will be judged on its consistency with the overall aim of the program. Incomplete applications and applications that do not meet the criteria will not be considered. Once applications have been accessed, successful applicants will be notified of the decision in writing. Notification of success will also be provided to the Adelaide Business Hub. The applicant will be required to notify Renewal SA in writing if there are any changes with regard to the application which includes: change of business operations; or change of ABN or any other variation to that listed on the application.
