Creating a Connected Health System through Communication Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, Inc. All rights reserved.
SCL Health SCL Health operates nine acute care sites, three safetynet clinics, one adult and one children's mental health center, one assisted and independent living, long-term care center and more than 200 ambulatory service centers in three states: Colorado Kansas Montana We have more than 15,000 full-time associates and more than 800 employed providers

Emergency Communications-Currently Everbridge is the application that was selected by SCL Health to furnish an Emergency Notification System (ENS) for the enterprise. Using Everbridge provides us with a notification tool that will promote effective notification of potential emergencies that range from disruptive to disastrous. Everbridge also establishes timely and effective communications for those activities using the four phases of emergency management: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery.
Emergency Communications-Currently Has enhanced timely communications during IT outages such as EMR downtime. Has provided effective communication through different notification methods to keep associates informed during emergency events. Has established communication between care sites, clinics, and the system services command center when there is an emergency event impacting one or more sites.
Emergency Communications-Currently Computer Pop-Up Message Mobile Member App Phone-Cell Conference Bridge Phone- Home Event Text Phone- Work Pager - Home -Work
Emergency Communications-Currently Currently, 16 separate organizations are setup in Everbridge for SCL Health: Colorado Lutheran Home Good Samaritan Medical Center Holy Rosary Healthcare Lutheran Medical Center MSM (Medical Supply and Mobility) Mount Saint Vincent Home Physician Services Organization Platte Valley Medical Center SCL Home Health Saint Joseph Hospital St. Francis Health St. James Healthcare St. Mary s Medical Center St. Vincent Healthcare System Services SEOP EOC 12
Emergency Communications-Currently Data Collection: Data is captured in esecurity & Lawson, and then shared with Everbridge. It is critical that associates keep their contact information updated. Otherwise, they may not receive critical emergency communications.
Emergency Communications-Future Several areas are being considered Alertus Pop Up Features IT Alerting Single Organization versus Multi Organizational approach
Ticker: Emergency Communications-Future Alertus Popup Message: Full Screen Message:
Emergency Communications-Future Proposal: Single Org? Colorado Lutheran Home Good Samaritan Medical Center Holy Rosary Healthcare Lutheran Medical Center Mount Saint Vincent Home Physician Services Organization Platte Valley Medical Center SCL Home Health Saint Joseph Hospital St. Francis Health St. James Healthcare St. Mary s Medical Center St. Vincent Healthcare System Services SEOP EOC SCL Health * MSM (Medical Supply and Mobility) would be maintained as a separate org since it contains patient information. 16
Emergency Communications-Future Why change? High Level Unified Emergency Notification System Maintain standardization and consistency across our care sites in Everbridge. Greater level of platform collaboration between care sites. Reduce complexity in the interfaces between Everbridge and our data sources. System wide reporting. Maintain platform data integrity. 17
Emergency Communications-Future Benefits Simplify contact management Associates frequently interact with multiple sites within our organization requiring duplication in Everbridge. Merging all contacts (associates, contractors, physicians, etc.) into one org will make contact management easier. Standardization Streamline management of incident templates. Standardized contact pathways. Advanced API Options Duplication of Outlook Distribution groups in Everbridge. Enrichment of data from multiple data sources. Data Enrichment 18
Emergency Communications-Future Information Sharing Incident templates could be copied and utilized by multiple facilities. Sharing of best practices would be much easier. Redundancy Regional super users could be identified that have access as org admins. These supers users could provide support during large-scale regional events. With all contacts in a single org mass notification to the health system would be possible. 19
Emergency Communications-Future Everbridge Administrator Troubleshooting, Testing, Support and the ability to share best practices across our care sites would be significantly enhanced. Ability to launch conference bridges across the organization. 20
Emergency Communications-Future Single Org Challenges Facilities will have to agree on system standardization: Single Voice Greeting Sender Information Display Sender Caller ID User security will be more complex There may be some platform functionality that is being used today that my need to be modified or done a different way. This is not at all a bad thing 21
Emergency Communications-Future User Security User management will be controlled through specific user roles allowing them access to incident templates, contact groups, and organization administration as needed. 22
Emergency Communications-Future Unified System Monitoring Incidents, weather alerts, and notifications can be centrally monitored via the Everbridge Universe and Incidents overview: 23
Emergency Communications-Future Reporting System wide reporting is not possible with multiple orgs. This transition will allow us to leverage detailed reports and post incident analysis from the system level. This will be especially important for events that impact multiple care sites. For example, a severe weather event impacting the Denver metro area. 24
Complete Network Outage 25
Joint Commission Survey Care site Joint Commission Visit Groups set up prior and tested Launched 43 notifications Grouped notification into a single event for reporting Positive feedback from care site leadership 26
