2 EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE PRESENTERS Dr Martin Pearson BVSc PhD DVA Dipl.ECVAA MRCA Dr Pearson graduated from the University of Queensland in Undertaking specialist clinical training in anaesthesia at the University of Bristol where he also completed a PhD shortly after. Martin returned to Australia to lead the University of Sydney Veterinary Anaesthesia Department, where he also became senior lecturer. Martin has held an appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland since 2006 with involvement in anaesthesia research & teaching. Martin holds the Diploma in Veterinary Anaesthesia of the RCVS, is a Diplomate of the ECVS and is a member of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Dr Terry King BVSc MACVS Dr Terry King graduated from the University of Queensland in Over his 19 years in private practice in Brisbane s north western suburbs, Terry accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience in small animal practice. After a year s sojourn in the USA and Brisbane s Animal Emergency Centre, Terry joined the University of Queensland Veterinary Teaching Hospital in late 1995 as a medical resident. He went on to become the Director of the Clinic and Hospital in 1997 and again in Terry joined the team at Veterinary Specialist Services as a Director in Terry s real passion arises from the emergency side of veterinary practice, particularly the intricacy of understanding and treating the critically ill. Dr Trudie McAlees BSc, BVSc, MACVSc (Anaesthesia and Critical Care), FACVSc (Emergency and Critical Care) Trudi is a Massey graduate who started her career in mixed animal practice. After seeing the rewards and frustrations of emergency practice, Trudi spent a few years doing longterm locums in the UK and travelling. Trudi completed a residency at the Western Animal Emergency Centre at the University of Melbourne and then went on to be the first person to sit Fellowship of the ACVS in Emergency and Critical Care in She has a particular interest in analgesia, ventilation and multi-trauma cases.
