Care Providers of Minnesota has purchased two of the FDA-approved bed system testing kits that are available for providers to rent. The rental kits consist of all the approved tools and test methods to selftest the bed systems in your facility. The kit may be kept at a facility for a period of ten calendar days, per rental period. The price includes roundtrip insured shipping through FedEx. (Return shipping is initiated through a simple phone call to FedEx). By properly using the testing tools on your bed systems, you should be able to determine which bed systems are safe and unsafe. Included with the tool kit (and retained by the renting facility after the rental period) are resources to develop mitigation strategies for systems determined to be unsafe, clinical guidance focusing on risk intervention, individualized resident environmental changes, and more. 9 PRODUCTS Fire, Building, and Life Safety Code Documentation System The Minnesota State Fire Marshal s Health Care Section recommends that all documentation subject to review during a facility s annual Life Safety Code survey be kept in a 3-ring binder tabbed and/or indexed to cover at least 17 major subject areas. The binder also includes a valuable CD with forms and policies that may be modified and customized to reflect your facility-specific conditions and procedures. In addition to aiding in the documentation review portion of your facility s annual life safety code survey, proper use of the Fire, Building, & Life Safety Code Documentation System can reduce the likelihood of a failure of your building s safety systems and improve safety for your residents, staff, and visitors. 13 RESOURCES ehealth Data Solutions Essential Tools for Quality Care Web-based tools to improve resident care, maximize MDS submissions, and drive continuous improvement within the facility and for each individual resident. Features three unique web-based tools: CareWatch, RiskWatch, and UBWatch. For more information contact: John Sheridan UHF Purchasing is a joint venture between the Care Providers of Minnesota Service Corporation and UHF Purchasing. Unlike other programs that focus only on the number of participating vendors, UHF Purchasing negotiates price breaks with each vendor before bringing them on board. UHF Purchasing is by far the largest and most effective buying cooperative in Minnesota's long-term care world. UHF Purchasing continues to grow and provide new contract options and services to participants. It does not engage in a bait-and-switch tactic that some smaller programs might use, giving a price break in one area and taking it back in another. Instead, the full-time professional staff of UHF Purchasing are working constantly to improve the prices available to providers across the board. 15 RESOURCES My InnerView My InnerView is an evidence-based management tool designed for nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and housing with services providers. My InnerView provides two primary management tools to help organizations better achieve their goals: Satisfaction Surveys and Quality Profile Tracking. Satisfaction Surveys My InnerView offers family, resident, and employee satisfaction surveys that help customers base their actions on what they know, not what they think. This feedback is essential to fully represent the operational story of a facility. The survey tools provide evidence you need to initiate quality improvement, track referral sources, improve staff recruitment and retention, and measure outcomes of previous initiatives. Quality Profile Tracking The one-screen Quality Profile will track the monthly progress facilities make toward their own goals, revealing strengths and diagnosing stresses within a system. Tracking includes resident quality of life, resident quality of care, family satisfaction, state survey results, employee commitment, Minnesota Pay for Performance measures, and financial health. My InnerView allows you to benchmark to the same size facility, same type of ownership, and geographic location. You might also choose to compare your performance to other facilities in the state or to My InnerView s entire database of thousands of facilities throughout the nation. Your reports are available instantly once the data is entered or you can look back to a previous month. For more information, contact: My InnerView Inc. Phone: or Fax: info@myinnerview.com 15
