2 SUMMER SQUIRES SERVICES STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of Summer Squires is to meet the needs of the local community by providing a quality, nurturing, and enriching camp environment for elementary-aged children. 3 WHAT IS SUMMER SQUIRES? 2017 Summer Squires is a summer camp provided at Bee Caves Elementary for children who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade as of June 1, It is a safe, familiar environment for the children. Students enjoy supervised playtime, snack time, structured activities, and field trips. Certified teachers, teacher assistants, and monitors supervise the children at all times. WHEN DOES IT OPERATE? 2017 Summer Squires operates daily M - F from June 12, July 28, 2017, except for July 4th(holiday). The hours are 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM. WHEN DOES ENROLLMENT BEGIN? Enrollment begins April 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. on a first come, first served basis. It will remain open until all student slots per week have been filled. You must complete your enrollment online. Call if you do not have access to a computer or if you experience technical difficulties. HOW DO I ENROLL MY CHILD? 1. Visit 2. Click on the Summer Squires link to find the registration site. 3. Click on the Summer Squires button and choose the one-time MANDATORY REGISTRATION FEE per child, answering all of the enrollment/medical questions. Important Note: Paying the registration fee does not hold the student s spot. Your child may not attend Summer Squires until this $45 fee (per child) has been purchased, and the weekly balance has been paid in full. 4. Check your for the registration receipt. There will be a PASSWORD embedded in the receipt. This password will grant you access to purchase your Summer Squires weeks. You can purchase all of them at once, or visit the site later and purchase them one at a time using the same password. The deadline to purchase each week is NOON the Wednesday prior. Early enrollment is encouraged as select weeks fill up quickly. WHAT ARE MY PAYMENT OPTIONS? ONLINE ONLY: Debit / credit (Master Card, Visa, Discover Card) or online check (For computer assistance, or to pay in advance by cash or check, contact the Office of Community Programs at ) ARE SNACKS PROVIDED? One afternoon snack will be provided by the school district. Please bring a morning snack. If your child has food allergies, you must inform the Summer Squires Supervisor in writing prior to your first day of attendance. To print a food allergy form, visit IS LUNCH PROVIDED? No, students must bring their own lunch unless informed otherwise in advance by the Summer Squires Supervisor. IS A SCHOOL NURSE ON SITE? Yes, a school nurse is on site. Please clearly mark any necessary medications and drop them off on your first day. Don t forget to pick them up on your last day! TAXES AND STATEMENTS Services offered through Community Programs may qualify for childcare tax deductions. 5 Summer Squires Overview ONLINE ENROLLMENT begins April 12, Registration is ongoing pending space availability. Please allow at least 2 business days to process your enrollment for each week. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis and will remain open until all student slots per week are filled. A student s enrollment is not considered complete until the registration fee, and the full weekly balance has been paid. What is the refund policy? The $45 enrollment fee is non-refundable. For weekly refunds, please submit your request in writing by NOON the Wednesday before the week you wish to cancel. A $10 cancellation fee will be charged per student. Please Note: Barring medical emergencies, it is very important for parents to plan ahead so the weekly rosters are accurate. Often, LTISD pays for each field trip at least one week prior. Are transfers allowed? No, our payment software does not accommodate the transfer of funds from one week to another. However, if your schedule changes, you may purchase a new week then send a written request to refund the cancelled week (by NOON the Wednesday prior to the week you wish to cancel.) What should my child bring to Summer Squires each day? Bring: Lunch, drink, water bottle, and 1 snack. Wear: Socks, closed toe shoes, and play clothes. Label: Back packs, lunch boxes, and all personal items with student s name. FYI: During technology rotations, there will be opportunities for students to use their own electronic devices. However, campus computers will be available as an alternative option. Note: LTSD is not responsible for lost or stolen items. 7 SUMMER SQUIRES GUIDELINES To be eligible for childcare, campers must have completed LTISD kindergarten through fifth grade. 1. All fees must be paid on time and remain current in order for children to continue attending the program. Weekly fees are not pro-rated, and are required even if the student does not attend every day. 2. Summer Squires services follow all LTISD policies and practices. Any violation may result in removal from the program at the Coordinator s discretion. 3. If a camper is sent home with fever, he/she must be fever-free for at least 24 hours before returning to Summer Squires. 4. A late charge will apply when campers are picked-up after 6:00 p.m. ($10 per child the first minute, and $1 per child for each additional minute.) Students may not return to Summer Squires until the late fee has been paid online or in person at the LTISD Administration building. Continued late pick-up of 3 or more times may result in removal from the program at the Coordinator s discretion. 4. Chronic misbehavior, or campers who continually hurt themselves, others, or property will be subject to dismissal from the program at the Coordinator s discretion. 5. Campers will not be released to anyone but their parents/guardians, unless specific written arrangements have been provided to the Summer Squires Supervisor. 6. All personal belongings must be clearly marked. The program is not responsible for lost or damaged items. Favorite toys and money may be brought to Summer Squires at the camper s own risk and used only at designated times. 7. Continued disrespect by campers and/or parents may result in removal from the program at the Coordinator s discretion. 8. Dismissal from the program may result in a loss of fees paid. 9. All violations of the above guidelines will be reviewed by the District Community Programs Coordinator. Any action taken by the Coordinator is final. 7
8 DISCIPLINE LTISD Summer Squires provides a safe, healthy, friendly, and fun environment for children. In order to maintain this environment, all students must adhere to the discipline management plan below. REGULAR DISCIPLINE MANAGEMENT PLAN: 1. Verbal warning/s to student. 2. Written documentation by staff and parent initials at the time of sign-out. 3. Written report for parent signature and review by the District Community Programs Coordinator. All decisions made by the Coordinator regarding consequences are final. 4. Any further written reports may result in the child being removed from Summer Squires for the remainder of the summer. All decisions made by the District Community Programs Coordinator are final. 2. Dismissal from the Summer Squires program may result in a loss of fees paid. ALTERNATE DISCIPLINE MANAGEMENT PLAN: Extreme circumstances or behaviors may supersede the regular discipline management plan, resulting in immediate suspension or removal from the Summer Squires program. These behaviors include, but are not limited to: Children who repeatedly hurt themselves, others, or property. Continuous defiance, disrespect, or refusal to follow the rules and guidelines. Refusal to obey. Verbal abuse, physical abuse, or sexual harassment of students or staff members by students or their parents. OTHER: Other circumstances may also result in suspension or removal from the Summer Squires program: Failure to pay fees by the deadlines specified on p. 5 of this handbook. Continual late pick-up. Other actions deemed inappropriate by the District Community Programs Coordinator. 8
9 SUMMER SQUIRES ACKOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT/ ACCOUNTABILITY COMPUTERS and PERSONAL DEVICES By clicking agree during Summer Squires online enrollment process, I am indicating the following: I have read and understand the Computer and Personal Device policy. I hereby release LTISD, its personnel agents, and any party with which LTISD is affiliated, from any and all claims and damages of any nature arising from my child s use of his/her Personal Device and LTISD s computer system, including, but not limited to claims that may arise from the unauthorized use of the system to purchase products or services. As the parent or guardian of the enrolled student, I will instruct my child regarding any additional restrictions I have concerning his/ her access to materials. I will emphasize to my child the importance of following the rules for personal safety. Campers will be solely responsible for their Personal Device and may bring it to Summer Squires at their own risk. Personal Devices must be kept in the camper s backpack until the designated time for use. Campers are not allowed to access the internet from their Personal Device. Campers will not be permitted to share their Personal Device with another camper. Campers will be allowed to access APPs already downloaded on the device. All APPs, music, videos, and games must be appropriate and G-rated. A camper will be permitted to use District computers and other technology systems, including appropriate use of the Internet to designated websites only. All camper computer and technology system use, including use of student personal technology devices or systems, shall be in accordance with District policy and camp counselor directives. Inappropriate use or abuse of District computers, District or personal technology systems, and/or Internet access may result in denial or restriction of the privilege to use the District s computers and technology systems, and possible further disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. 9
