WHAT IS 5
WHAT IS PROVEN TO EXTREMES Inspired by the impact it has on lives everywhere, every day, X-STATIC harnesses the power of silver to create a powerful technology that inhibits the growth of bacteria on fabrics, eliminating human-based odor for the life of the garment. X-STATIC is made by permanently bonding 99.9% metallic silver to the surface of a fiber. It is not a nanotechnology or a complex chemical formula, just silver. The permanent performance of X-STATIC keeps apparel smelling fresher for longer, even after multiple wear cycles between washings. Products powered by X-STATIC feature a 100% coverage area of silver on the fiber to maximize performance, but remain soft, flexible and comfortable when integrated into finished garments. VALIDATED IN LAB. PROVEN IN REAL LIFE. Proven by United States Special Forces, NASA, and Olympic athletes. X-STATIC has a rich heritage of delivering superior performance. The benefits of X-STATIC have been validated by studies at prestigious institutions throughout the world for more than a decade. X-STATIC is registered as an antimicrobial with the US EPA, is OEKO-TEX Standard 100% certified and is used in dozens of FDA approved products* HEALTHCARE FABRICS POWERED BY X-STATIC ANTIMICROBIAL TECHNOLOGY Products powered by X-STATIC inhibit the growth of bacteria on the surface of fabrics. Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs), are the fourth leading cause of death in the US and a primary global public health issue. We support the belief that cleaner hospitals are safer hospitals, protecting soft surfaces should be considered equally important as hard surfaces. X-STATIC ANTIMICROBIAL TECHNOLOGY: THE EVIDENCE- BASED SOLUTION *Data on file at Noble Biomaterials. 6
WHAT IS SOFT SURFACE PROTECTION Products powered by X-STATIC have been proven effective, demonstrating superior performance. The technology utilizes the power of silver to inhibit the growth of bacteria on soft surfaces and is proven to reduce 99.9% of bacteria on fabrics. A MISSING PIECE: SOFT SURFACES IN THE HEALTHCARE ENVIRONMENT Soft surfaces cover 90% of a patient's contact environment in healthcare setting, and are constantly exposed between launderings. Because of the frequency of contamination, laundering uniforms, privacy curtains, labcoats and patient apparel has limited effectiveness and has not been proven to reduce cross-contamination while they are in use. Hand sanitization is only effective until recontamination occurs which happens immediately upon touching a contaminated soft surface. Regular behaviors like opening a privacy curtain or retrieving a pen from a uniform pocket can cause recontamination. Effective solutions are ones that doesn't require behavior modification or training and ongoing compliance by staff. What is missing today? A proven, permanent solution for healthcare fabrics. Lack of guidelines for soft surface fabrics have created a gap in practice where these high-touch surfaces are largely ignored. 78% of white coats are contaminated with pathogenic material. Up to 60% of hospital uniforms are contaminated. 92% of privacy curtains have shown contamination within 1 week of being placed. MRSA and VRE can live for days/weeks on cotton and polyester fabrics. *Data on file at Noble Biomaterials. 7
EFFICACY MRSA contamination was found in 63% fewer silverimpregnated curtains that in control curtains. 67% of patients in silver fabric group eradicated MRSA. Dr. Tim Boswell, QMC Hospital, November 2008 Dr. P. Wilson, Lister Hospital, 2009 Dr. P. Wilson, Lister Hospital, X-STATIC ANTIMICROBIAL TECHNOLOGY: Heritage of proven efficacy in a spectrum of healthcare markets. Multiple studies have shown that soft surfaces lab coats, scrubs, uniforms, privacy curtains, patient apparel and i ii iii bed linens in the healthcare environment are contaminated and cross contamination from soft surfaces to iv v skin and other surfaces are proven to frequently occur. This evidence underscores the important role soft surfaces can play in the transmission of microorganisms in the healthcare environment and reveals a potentially dangerous gap in our current infection prevention practices. IN-VITRO EFFICACY: FABRIC CERTIFICATION Comprehensive, third-party testing is part of our product certification program. A summary of representative data is shown below.* *Test data available upon request 8
EFFICACY *Test data available upon request: HEALTHCARE FABRICS CLINICAL STUDY: Lab coats This study compared silver-embedded coats to polyester white coats during clinical practice. The use of silver textile medical coats was associated with a modest reduction in bacterial growth compared to a traditional white coat. Robert Tibbetts, Ph.D., Henry Ford Health System; Infectious Diseases in Clinical Practice, May 2014 CLINICAL STUDY: Privacy Curtains Field test for verifying the anti-microbial efficacy of privacy curtains with See It SAFE fabrics containing X-STATIC. MRSA contamination was found in 63% fewer silver-impregnated curtains than in control curtains. QMC Hospital, November 2008 CLINICAL STUDY: Nurses Uniforms Field test to verify the anti-microbial efficacy of tunics used in hospitals with See It SAFE fabrics containing X- STATIC after 100 industrial launderings The total germination number on the See it SAFE with X-STATIC textiles was reduced by 72.2%. The total number of all nosocomial infection pathogens was reduced by an average of 93.6% within an hour. 12 Scrubs for Professionals Many careers have a certain dress code associated with them. Scrubs, those easy-wear, easy-care, largely unisex uniforms originating in the medical industry, but due to their professional appearance and clinical connotations have now become the clothing of choice for any person in people or animal care. DOCTORS Scrubs originated in the operating room. Easy to change in and out of, doctors can switch quickly from their street clothes to surgical wear. With being laundered in the hospital, scrubs reduce contamination from the outside world. Originally white, they caused eye strain by reflecting the bright surgical lights. Eventually green became the standard colour to reduce that problem. But now, doctors can be seen walking in an out of O.R. doors wearing other colours, too. NURSES The nursing profession eventually adopted wearing scrub uniforms as standard procedure. Now, a wide variety of colours, styles, and prints are available to nurses, limited only by the requirement of their employers and the size of the orders. Nurses can choose prints based on their specialty, adding a touch of whimsy and personality to their work environment. 11
Scrubs for Professionals MEDICAL TECHNICIANS Members of the technology branch of medicine have joined the parade of proud scrub wearers, especially in hospital settings. Technicians in ultrasound, X-ray, MRI, CT, phlebotomy and everything else enjoy the ease of the scrubs lifestyle at work. DENTISTRY PROFESSIONALS Ease of wear and care and comfort all matter to professionals with busy work days and personal lives. Like doctors, dentists have worn white coats in the past. And they also have stringent professional standards to maintain in their offices. The visual tie-in with the medical profession is a boost to patient confidence, as well. Dental hygienists and assistants wearing scrubs or lab coats in the office present an overall appearance of competency to anxious patients fearing the sound of the drill. VETERINARIANS People want to know their beloved pet is being cared for by the best possible vets and assistants. Dressing in scrub uniforms like other medical professionals transfers the appearance of knowledge and compassion to practitioners whose patients are pets or valued livestock. And for the vets and their staff, once again, scrubs make life easier. 12
