4 TCS The TCS team visited the Lahore School on 27 th of May to conduct a recruitment drive for the Undergraduate and MBA students. TCS is in its 4 th decade of successful operations and has become a symbol of trust and reliability over the years, said Mr Wasim Iqbal, HR Business Specialist. He also briefed the students about the organization s Management Associate Program which is not only designed to fast track career development but also to place them in budding leadership positions. Through mentoring, customized development plans, learning interventions and focused rotations across its various businesses, the program will provide the individual with an opportunity to realize their potential through an intense and in Page3

5 depth knowledge of what the world of TCS is like. The briefing was followed by a test which was taken by 200 students. Nishat Chunian Nishat Chunian conducted its recruitment drive in on Friday, 3 rd July, The test was supervised by Ms. Tanziha Maryam, Assistant Manager Admin HR & Communication. The test began at 10:45 am at the SBS Library after which the students were asked to give their resumes to the HR team. Based on the results of the test, candidates were then shortlisted for interviews. Some of these interviews were conducted on campus while the rest were conducted at the company s headquarters. 6 Dunya News On Thursday 28th May 2015, the team was invited to participate in Shadow Budget Competition hosted by Dunya News. The participants included Azeem Arslan, Afifa Shamim, Muhammad Balawal Arif and Muhammad Hassan Arshad; belonging to BSc Economics and Finance. There were three other participating teams: LUMS, Kinnaird College and UCP. The theme of the budget was pro poor and included an assignment based on measures to improve tax to GDP ratio. The show was aired on Dunya TV a day before actual budget was proposed. Faysal Bank The Faysal Bank team visited the Lahore School on the 18 th June, 2015to conduct interviews for the position of Relationship Manger. Around 20 students from undergraduate and MBA programs were interviewed. The interviews were conducted at the Placements Office (FH-6). Page5

7 HBL Interviews Mr. Khurram Munir & Ms. Shehlale Javed from HBL visited the Lahore School of Economics on the 17 th of June, Wednesday to conduct interviews of the Undergraduate and MBA students. The interviews were conducted at the Placements Office (FH-6) for the position of Relationship Manager. Almost 30 students gave the interview. JCR - VIS Credit Rating Company Limited 1) Mr. Waqas Munir (Senior Manager Micro Finance & Corporate) 2) Mr. Naveed Amin (Director Communications Business Development) The team for JCR Vis Credit Rating Company Limited visited the Lahore School of Economics on the 23rd of June, Tuesday to conduct interviews for the MBA Finance students. After short listing 8 potential candidates JCR s team conducted the interviews at the Placements Office (FH-6) at 9:30 am. Page6

8 Bank Alfalah (Session) The top management from Bank Alfalah came to the on the 11 th of June, Thursday to conduct a session for the MBA and Undergraduate students majoring in Finance. The top officials who were a part of the Bank Alfalah team consisted of: 1. Mr. Yasir Rashid (Group Head of Audit & Inspection Group) 2. Mr. Tahir Khurshid (Head of Audit Retail Group) 3. Mr. Sumair Zafar (Officiating Head of Management Audit & Risk Assets Review) 4. Mr. Syed Abid Salar (Audit Manager) Mr. Yasir Rashid, the Group Head of Audit & Inspection Group began the session with a brief introduction about himself and his organization. He spoke about the functions and performance of the audit department at Bank Alfalah. He also explained how audit department has evolved over the span of time, hence creating new growth opportunities. Mr. Yasir also briefed the students regarding the use of state of the art software for audit by the Bank. Mr. Tahir Khurshid the Head of Audit Retail Group then continued the session explaining about the role of Islamic banking and asset based financing to the students. Page7

9 After the presentation came to an end, a question answer session was held and the students asked about the Job and internship opportunities that were being offered by Bank Alfalah. OBS (Recruitment) The OBS team, including Fehmeel Siddiqui, Ali Nadeem and Roohi Ahmed came to the on the 3 rd of June, Wednesday to conduct a recruitment drive. The drive began with an introductory session of their company. OBS is ranked among the top 20 pharmaceutical companies of Pakistan. The company is a regional player and deliver the highest quality products at affordable prices to the people living in Pakistan. They also have a global presence in countries such as Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Singapore and UAE. OBS head office and plant is based in Karachi and they have one regional office in Lahore. Mr. Fehmeel discussed their Management Trainee Program which is for a year and has the highest paid employees in the industry. He also talked about their Summer Internship Program, which is of 6 weeks and pays a stipend of Rs. 6000/-. After the presentation, the test was conducted for around 60 students including both Bachelors and MBA. Page8

10 Mobilink (Session) The Mobilink team came to the on the 19 th of March, Thursday to conduct a training session called Master your Future become Leaders of Tomorrow. The team members consisted of Mr. Hassan Khan, Mr. Hamd Rashid, Ms. Nida Iftikhar and Mr. Muhammad Talha. The session began at 11:15 am and was conducted in the SBS library. The audience for the session was the MBA and Undergraduate students. Mr. Hassan briefed the students regarding how to write a resume and about the most important points that need to be mentioned on a resume from an employer s perspective. The session was then continued by Mr. Muhammad Talha who explained various interview techniques to the students. Overall it was a very interactive and informative session for the students. Page9

11 DIGITAL GLOBAL SERVICES (Recruitment) Digital Global Services visited the on the 9 th of June, Tuesday to conduct a recruitment drive for the MBA and Undergraduate students. The DGS team consisted of: 1) Mr. Ali Imran (Marketing Sciences) 2) Ms. Rubab Zafar Chaudhry (Marketing Sciences) 3) Mr. Yasser Anwar (Marketing Sciences) 4) Mr. Khwaja Ayub Khalid (HR Dept) 5) Mr. Moeen Rasool (Admin Dept) Mr. Ali began the session by introducing DGS as a US based online marketing provider with specialized solutions for the telecommunications industry. Their core operations included online customer acquisitions to consumer facing organizations and to clients offering products or services to business users. The presentation was further continued by Ms. Rubab who spoke about talent acquisition through various means by which they can get a diverse pool of candidates who can get an experience of developing themselves in terms of professional skills and also make a valuable contribution to their organization. She also addressed the students regarding the Job opportunities they have in their organization. Page10

12 After the presentation came to an end there was a question answer session which was followed by a test. Around 60 students of both Bachelors and MBA gave the test. Berger Paints (Recruitment) Berger came to the on the 16 th of June, Tuesday to conduct a recruitment drive for the MBA Marketing students. The Berger team consisted of: 1) Ms. Sadia Aurangzeb (HR Officer) 2) Mr. Faisal Zia (Marketing) 3) Ms. Hajra Rafi (Marketing) 4) Mr. Saad (Internee) 5) Mr. Ramiz (Internee) Miss Sadia the HR Officer of Berger Paints Pakistan began the session with a brief introduction regarding their Organization. She spoke about Berger starting its operations in Pakistan in 1950 and was the first organized Paint Company to offer premium products through import from the United Kingdom. Moreover Berger established its first local manufacturing facility in Karachi in Later In 2006, Berger established state of the art manufacturing facility in Lahore. The company has regional offices in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Territorial Offices in Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Hyderabad. Page11

13 The presentation was then continued by Mr. Faisal and Ms. Hajra who spoke about their experience at Berger Paints till present. After the session came to an end the test was conducted for around 100 students of MBA Marketing. AC Nielsen (Recruitment) AC Nielsen is one of the top marketing research companies globally, which hires LSE students every year. This year they came to the on the 8th of June, Monday to conduct a recruitment drive at the SBS Library. Ms. Mehwish Khalid, Human Resource Analyst gave a company presentation which was followed by an interesting video on Consumer Research. She also talked aboutthe job opportunities at AC Nielsen to the eager students. After the presentation came to an end a question answer session was held and the test was conducted for around 110 MBA students. Page12

14 Crescent Bahamun (Recruitment Drive) Crescent is one of the most established organizations and has ascertained an outstanding reputation in the field of textile, sugar, banking, agriculture and steel business in Pakistan. With an experience of more than 60 years in the business sector, Crescent Bahuman ltd was established, which is a globally renowned denim brand. Crescent Bahuman Came to for their Management Associate Program Recruitment Drive on 21 st September A total of 30 Students, both Masters and Bachelors, participated for the recruitment drive. 15 Sparklist Write up Sparklist is a second hand goods selling marketplace application, inspired to bring a flea market experience to consumers' mobiles. For consumers, discovering amazing bargains nearby is made easy by intelligent and fresh location-based sorting. Bargains can be discovered in categories ranging from fashion to electronics, hobbies and everything in between. Selling on Sparklist is easy, fast and free. Consumers can sell anything they want, by simply taking a pictures and publishing it on Sparklist. The result is instantly available new items that can be browsed by buyers in the local area. Sparklist came to the to recruit the Brand Ambassadors. They conducted an introductory session on 30 th October students were selected as brand ambassadors as it was a tough recruitment. Malik Arsal Bucha: Bsc 2nd year student Faaria khan: 3rd year student LSE brand ambassadors were very efficient, as they got the maximum number of downloads. Page14

16 Lamudi Session On 28 th October 2015, LSE s very own alumni, Zunaira Hassan conducted a very instructive resume writing session. It was conducted in the Lahore School Main Library and around 60 to 70 students signed up to attend it. The library being this busy and ever so noisy was a rare sight to see but it confirmed the fact that the session was a hit. Zunaira, the HR manager at Lamudi, guided the students regarding impressive resume writing. The session was highly informative and answered many questions that pondered the minds of the future fresh graduates. She also directed the students to developing their linkd.in profiles and make their resume as ideal as it can be for the employers to quickly skim through. Unilever Talent Hunt The Unilever Talent Hunt was a business case study competition conducted on 6 th November 2015, Friday at the SBS library. The competition brought a lot of energy to the campus as it was for all years of Bachelors and MBA students. Around 150 to 200 students signed up for the competition and this was no surprise since the company had conducted a very successful campaign of the session a day earlier. Unilever representatives set up a photo booth stall and provided printed copies of the faces pasted on miniature youth leader cardboard models. This booth was swamped with students and immediately the session gained fame among the students. The students applied online for the competition and the case study solving Page15

17 was conducted in the SBS library. The winners were then announced and allotted their respective prizes. The session was concluded on an energetic note as it was a huge success and considered highly active and interactive among the students. Mock Interviews at the Placements Office The Lahore School Placements office took the initiative of conducting mock interviews for the 3 rd and 4 th years students on the 18 th of November The purpose of the session was to prepare the young inexperienced minds of the students to sit before a panel and know the knacks of giving a job winning interview. To further facilitate them, the placements office conference room was set up with a video camera recording the interview so that the students could later observe where they lacked and made mistakes. To conduct these trial interviews, alumni Zunaira Hassan and Ayesha Sheikh were invited to become a part of the panel. Both of alumni s having experience with the Human Resource sector, had some very helpful tips to give to the students regarding interview norms relevant to body language, dressing and speaking mannerism. The mock interviews turned out to be very helpful for the students and were given feedback of being conducted once again during the semester. Page16

18 Placements Ambassador Program The Lahore School placements team decided to extend its family and recruit campus ambassadors from among the students. This was an opportunity presented to the students to explore their potential through on campus jobs. The interviews were held on the 26 th November 2015 and were taken by the placements office manager, Ms Rabia Suhail. After the successful recruitment, the selected students were instructed to be excellent representatives of the placements office and instruct their fellow students regarding the functions of the placements office or guiding them on how they can explore their potential through the placements office opportunities. 19 Pepsi co. On the 3 rd of December 2015, Pepsi co. organized a session as well as a test for recruiting our very own LSE students. This was a management trainee program for specifically the MBA students and it was held in the SBS library. On the day of the seminar, the library was fully decorated with balloons and gift bags were lined up for all those who gave the test. The respected representatives of Pepsi co. comprised of Ramla Rauf, Ali Awan and Faham Ahmed who are part of the HR team. The session was a success and all those who were part of it received a special Pepsi goody bag. The LSE students proved to be successful recruits and the session concluded on a good note. Mathematics Session The invited Sir Mahmood Akram, the head of Mathematics and director at The Leads Academy (TLA), for a mathematics session to benefit its students. Various organization tests for recruitment involve Page18

20 GMAT maths which is a bit tricky and requires tricks and techniques to solve them within the time limit. The session s main purpose was to guide the LSE students on how to nail such tests. The practice session took place on the 10 th of January 2016 which was a great way to kick start the new academic year. The first part of the session took place in the SBS Library and the second part in the SBS Lab. It was an honor to have the impressive and expert Mathematician, Sir Mahmood Akram, visit the.
