It will add a new loan guarantee to the program originally authorized in the Policy Act of 2005 by adding Section 1705: Temporary Program for Rapid Deployment of Renewable and Electric Power Transmission to be reviewed on September 30, Davis-Bacon wage requirements. Projects should address the tecnicla, economic, and policy barriers to implementing a combination of renewable energy technologies into one integrated solution for a community to reduce its carbon footprint. Projects should suppoert and enable the deployment goals across the portfolio of EEREs renewable energy program, with the intent of creating examples that can be further replicated by other communities, nationally and internationally. Eligible renewable energy technologies for purposes of theis FOA include but are not limited to, electric or thermal energy generated from solar, wind, biomass, landfill gas, ocean (including tidal, wave, current, and thermal), geothermal, or new hydroelectric generation capacity achieved from increased efficiency or additions of new capatcity at an existing hydroelectric project, as defined in EPAct To increase the deployment of ground source heat pumps through new commercialization strategies that incorporate: 1) innovative commercial-scale or residential community technology demonstration projects; 2) data gathering and analysis related to system costs, performance, and installation techniques; and 3) a national geothermal heat pumps (GHP) certification standard. DOE's objective is to promote ground source heat pumps via the following three Topic Areas: 1. Technology Demonstration Projects; 2. Data Gathering and Analysis; and 3. National Certification Standard. See full announcement for detailed description of Topic Areas. Objectives are to: 1) develop the needed modeling tools and database of experience with high penetration scenarios of PV on a distribution system, 2) develop monitoring, control and integration systems to enable cost-effective widespread deployment of small modular PV systems and 3) demonstrate the integration of PV and energy storage into Smart Grid applications. This will accelerate the placement of high levels of PV penetration into existing or newly designed distribution circuits. The achievement of these goals will facilitate increased growth of grid-tied PV installation, thus supporting the Solar Technology Program (SETP) mission to accelerate widespread commercialization of clean solar energy technologies in the U.S. Office of Efficiency and Renewable Office of the Assistant Secretaries for Research; and Acquisition Employment and Training Office of Electricity Delivery and Reliability Golden Field Office Golden Field Office Golden Field Office States (28% of formula); Local Governments (28% of formula-resident/daytime office population); Indian tribes (2% of formula) Government laboratories and facilities; Universities; Nonprofits; Contractors (funding given directly to military installations) Private non-profit organizations that are National labor-management organizations with local networks or Statewide or local non-profit partnerships Competitive; Open State governments; County governments; City or township governments; Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized) Unrestricted Unrestricted June 25, 2009 September 4, 2009 September 3, 2009 August 6, 2009 July 30, /24/2009 7

Industrial collaboration is strongly recommended & cost sharing is required Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies offer great potential for reducing C02 emissions and mitigating global climate change. Deploying these technologies will require a significantly expanded workforce trained in the various specialties that are currently under-represented in the U.S. Applications are sought from companies, trade groups, and other organizations that can develop regional sequestration technology training to facilitate transfer of knowledge and technologies required for site development, operations, and monitoring of commercial CCS projects. This training will focus on the applied engineering and science of CCS for site developers, geologists, engineers, and technicians. In addition, these training activities will provide a technology transfer platform for C02 sequestration related technology information and insights on a basin scale level to the sequestration industry in a concise, meaningful format that stimulates timely, informed technology decisions. To develop & demonstrate a 50% improvement in overall freight efficiency on a heavy-duty Class 8 tractor-trailer in ton-miles per gallon. This improvement will be achieved through the application of advanced vehicle system technologies & advanced engine technologies. At least 20% of the improvement will be through the development of an engine capable of achieving 50% Brake Thermal Efficiency (BTE). Over the 3-5 year period of this activity, the selected participants will develop, test & ultimately demonstrate these advanced technologies on a full-scale vehicle. A pathway to compliance with prevailing federal safety & environmental regulations must be shown. Candidate vehicle system technologies may include reductions in aerodynamic drag, vehicle mass, & rolling resistance, & other technologies as appropriate. Electrical or mechanical drive train hybridization, including energy storage/regeneration & main engine idle and other ancillary load reduction, may also be considered. For more information, visit & search Funding Opportunity Number: DE-FOA To stimulate the rapid deployment and integration of advanced digital technology that is needed to modernize the nation's electric delivery network for enhanced operational intelligence and connectivity. The electric delivery network for smart grid modernization encompasses the electric transmission and distribution infrastructure that interconnects large generation at one end and consumers' electric loads at the other end, as well as all components and systems in between, including distributed energy resources. National Technology Laboratory National Technology Laboratory National Technology Laboratory Headquarters Renewable Tax Credits Tax Credit Facility owners could choose to receive a grant equal to 30% of the tax basis (that is, the reportable business investment) for the facility, so long as the facility is depreciable or amortizable. The grants are also available for renewable energy facilities that would normally earn a business energy credit of 10% - 30%, including systems using fuel cells, solar energy, small wind turbines, geothermal energy, micro turbines, and combined heat and power (CHP) technologies. To earn a grant, the facility must be placed in service in 2009 or The grants will be paid directly from the U.S. Treasury. A separate measure in the Act removed limitations on the business credit based on how the systems are financed and also removes a business credit limit on small wind energy systems.
