4 A Private Financing Advisory Network It is a Multilateral Initiative with public-private partnerships: public sector funding for program activities / private sector investment for clean energy project implementation Led from the Climate Technology Initiative (CTI) as an Implementation Agreement under the International Energy Agency (IEA) and its member countries; in close relationship with UNFCCC and its Technology Transfer Panel Ulterior objective of bridging gaps between investors and clean energy projects and businesses

8 How does CTI PFAN work? 1. Paid-for coaching and mentoring for project promoters and developers to facilitate fund raising process from private investors and lenders: Project Development/ Commercial and Financial Business Structuring Marketing / Technical aspects / Growth Strategies Business Plan Preparation, Investment and Financial Proposals 1. Technical Assistance Funds to cover the cost of specific studies (technical, environmental, etc.) 1. Networking services (with suppliers, consultants, financiers, regulators, etc.) 2. Introduction to a wide array of financing opportunities through PFAN s network

9 ELEGIBILITY Commercially-viable clean energy businesses, with proven environmental and climate benefits, and clear corporate social responsibility PFAN targets projects with investment needs ranging between USD 1-50mm Energy Efficiency programs and implementations in Industries and Commercial Facilities PFAN is technology neutral and supports a wide array of sectors: biomass, wind, waste-to-energy, hydro, energy efficiency, solar, tidal wave, clean transportation and distributed generation Also climate-adaptation projects with an energy component (agri-businesses, etc.)

10 How to Participate? 1. Responding to the Call for Proposals for a Business Plan Competition that has been ciculated: 2. Submitting your project proposals/executive summaries after the Call for Proposals deadline, using the forms provided in the webpage and submitting your project s information to: andre@energydynamics-lac.comor fernando.alvarado@flexenergygroup.com

Coaching and Mentoring services are provided at no cost for project developers No entrance fees All program costs are covered by USAID Eligible projects will be selected according to preestablished criteria (see Call for Proposals) Direct financing from investors and lenders could have due diligence and other up-front fees, disbursement fees, legal closing costs that are NOT covered by the PFAN program

12 CTI PFAN in Central America and the Caribbean This first pilot program will run through September 2013 The Financial Forum in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on April 25, 2013 will be the program s main activity but projects in the pipeline will receive ongoing support USAID has committed additional funding to continue the program beyong September 2013

13 Activities being developed 1. Establishment of national and regional networks in Central America and the Caribbean 2. Project Identification Activities mainly through the Call for Proposals. Deadline to Apply for the Competition: October 31, Construction of a clean energy project pipeline 4. Deployment of consultancy and mentoring services for Business Plan Preparation and Fundraising 5. Technical Assistance funds will be allocated to eligible projects needing such support
