1 Art Acquisition Brochure ARTcetera Benefit & Auction: One of the community s leading art events allying artists, collectors, galleries, and altruists in support of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
2 Ars Gratia AIDS Action October 27th 730pm The Castle at Park Plaza 130 Columbus Avenue, Boston MA
3 ARTcetera: Consider Yourself Discovered ARTcetera, a biennial auction to benefit AIDS Action Committee, remains one of Boston s best venues for art acquisition. Seasoned collectors, leading philanthropists, bright new art world stars, and community members discover groundbreaking art, connect to one another, and support the work of AIDS Action. Discover AIDS Action Committee AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts is proud to be a leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Since 1983, AIDS Action has been providing health and wellness services to HIV positive clients, conducting cutting edge prevention programs, and advocating for fair and effective AIDS policies. Discover ARTcetera History In 1985, a group of Boston-area artists responded to the AIDS epidemic that was affecting their friends and colleagues by donating their work to raise funds for research. These artists raised over $100,000 that year and created a new space for the community. ARTcetera has since grown into one of Boston s most revered spaces for art purchasing, auctioning off work by the likes of Rothko, Andy Warhol, and Annie Liebowitz. While the landscape of HIV/AIDS looks very different than it did in when ARTcetera began, we have a long way to go in order to ensure healthy outcomes for those living with HIV and to end the epidemic for good. Discover ARTcetera Pop Ups! ARTcetera explodes onto Boston s art and culture scene all year! Join us to Share the Love, celebrate the ART in Earth, and raise vital awareness and funds for AIDS Action Committee. Artist features, interactive elements, and opportunities to meet ARTcetera community abound! Get in touch with Olivia Ives Flores, our Art Acquisition Chair, to find out more at olivia@oholivecreative.com or Discover ARTcetera Adrian Negenborn, SP5232. Donated to ARTcetera 2015.
4 We ve Been Busy This year we saw over 4,700 clients. We provided case management and housing assistance for over 1,600 households. We delivered legal assistance to almost 450 clients. Our Youth on Fire Program served almost 200 homeless young people (ages 14-24) Youth on Fire saw a total of more than 4,100 visits to the program. We distributed 240,804 sterile syringes. We trained approximately 296 people in opioid overdose prevention. 251 overdose reversals resulted from our training program. Make a Mark With AIDS Action AIDS Action Committee provides essential services for people living with HIV/AIDS while working to prevent new infections and advocating for progressive public health policies at the local and nation levels. Our average client has an annual income of less than $10,000 a year, and our programs and services make it possible for many of them to remain healthy while dealing with life s other challenges. With your support, we are able to take a holistic approach to care, providing housing assistance, legal counseling, and mental health services in addition to case management and wellness check-in calls. Through our Needle Exchange program, we are also working to combat the opioid epidemic while tackling the related risks of HIV infection. As part of the Getting to Zero Coalition, AIDS Action is committed to getting to zero HIV-related deaths, zero new infections, and zero stigma by Make a Mark Artwork: Domingo Barreres, Turbulence and the Male Gaze/Robert Mapplethorpe Judith Larsen, Blind Spot. Donated to ARTcetera 2015.
