Much of what influences our health happens outside the doctor s office Robert Wood Johnson Foundation research indicates that as much as 80 percent of health outcomes are determined by social, economic and behavioral factors as well as the physical environment GSK and PhRMA reputational research indicates that stakeholders want to see pharmaceutical companies investing in the health of US communities Zip code matters more than genetic code, which is why we invest in programs that improve social determinants of health in communities with poor health outcomes Children s Village 2015 IMPACT Award Winner

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2015) $5 million, 3-year grant to The Food Trust and Get HYPE Philly (Healthy You Positive Energy) 10 community health partners working with North Philadelphia middle and high school students in-school and out- of-school, inspiring them to lead their peers, families and neighbors in healthy eating and exercise. East St. Louis, IL (2015) $500,000, 18-month grant to United Way and East Side Thrives 9 community health partners launching wellness, leadership and academic curricula to support young people in East St. Louis to advocate for healthy changes in their community.
