3 PROJECTS: Beneficiary Country Project Description and Components Project objectives Project s Republic of Cape Vrde Rural Development for Eradication of Poverty US$ 2.50 million US$ 2.00 million The Government - US$ 0,50 million. The project is located in the two islands of Santiago and Fogo and consists of the following components: Basic Services Projects which include small projects in the fields of potable water (construction and rehabilitation of tanks, procurement and installation of household connections, water points electricity supplies and sewerage equipment at site. Income Generation Projects which include small projects in the field of plant and animal production, processing of agricultural and animal products, articinal fishing traditional industries and professions (procurement of equipment and different means of production) and commercial activities Support of thr Project Unit by provision of office equipment and a means of transport. Consultancy services for the preparation of technical and financial studies for the small projects Annual auditing of the project s accounts. 4 Beneficiary Country Project Description and Components Project objectives Project s The Republic of Zambia Kalabo- Sikongo Angola Borders Road US$54.00 million US$ million Kuwait Fund(US$14.oo million),saudi Fund(US$12.00 million), OFID(US$10.00 million) and Government(US$8 million) The project lies in Kalabo province in the western region of the country. the road starts from Kalabo town which lies at a distance of 600km to the west of the capital Lusaka westwards to :Sikongo village which is at a distance of 56km from Lusaka then to Angola Borders at a distance of 28.1km. the project consists of the following components: 1. Civil Works and ancillaries: for the construction of an asphalt road about 84.1km long as follows: Kalabo- Sikongo with a length of 56km a width of 6.5m and with tow shoulders each is 2.5m wide Sikongo- Angola Borders With a length of 28.1 km, a width of 6.2m and with two shoulders each is 2,0 m wide 2. Consultancy Services: for the preparation of detailed designs and tender documents,assisting the Executing Agency in launching and analysis of bids, award of contract and supervision of the execution of the works. The Project is part of the transport corridor that links the capital Lusaka and the Angolan borders to the west and towards one of the main ports in the Republic of Angola. The project aims at facilitation of transport of passengers and goods in the western region of the country and with the Republic of Angola. The project also aims at enhancing trade relations between the Republic of Zambia and Angola and enhancing the socio- economic development in the regions which crosses - Civil works and ancillaries: on the basis of competitve bidding restricted to African, Arab or mix Arab-African firms. 5 Beneficiary Country Project Description and Components Project objectives Project s Republic of Uganda Rural Electrification in Eight Regions US$ million US$10.00 million Saudi Fund(US$11.00 million) The project comprises the supply of electric power to about 112 villages distributed in 8 regions and it consists of the following components: - Civil and electrical works for procurement and installation of transmission lines (33KV) with a total length of about 658 km, supply and installation of 159 sub transformers(33/0.38 KV),supply and installation of distribution lines(380 Volt) with a total length of about 274 km and supply and istallation of cables and metres for 5400consumers - Consultancy Services for preparation of detailed engineering designs and tender documents and the supervision of the execution of the project. The project is within The National Programme for Rural Electrification in Uganda And it is also within the framework of the special Initiative for the Supply of Energy to the Poor. The project aims at the improvement of the standard of living, reduction of poverty,reduction of immigration rates from rural areas to cities through the supply of household electric power to the population of a group of villages and to the commercial, industrial and agricultural activities in the project area hence contributing to the socio- economic development. 6 Beneficiary Country Project Description and Components Project objectives The Republic of Cameroon Potable Water Supply for Some Centres US$ million US$ 7.00 million OFID(US$6.00 million) and the Government(US$1.50 million) The Project comprises 7 centres: Akom2, Amfangan, Aolamzi, Mifingi in the South Region. Kiti and Misamina in the East Region And Bot Makak in the Central Region. The number of population in these centres is estimated as 30,000. The project consists of the following components: 1. Civil Engineering,Hydro mechanical and electrical Works - Drilling and equipping 14 wells, rehabilitation of 2 existing wells, connection of 14 pumping stations with the electricity grid, supply and installation of electric generators for the pumping stations and construction of gravel roads to connect the wells with roads networks of the concerned centres. - Construction of 7 water tanks - Supply and laying of transmission and distribution lines with a total length km and diameters that vary 36 to 200mm and about 2092 household connections and a public water distribution point - Construction of an administrative office in each centre for the department responsible for management and operation of the water supply facility and a house for the head of the department 2. Supply of operation and maintenance equipments which include the equipment materials and tools required for operation and maintenance of the project 3. Supportof the Project Coordination Unit and the two Project Units; with: office equipment, office furniture, 3 X 4WD vehicles,7 motor cycles and the operation expenses 4. Support of the Capacities of the Local Groups and Benificiaries The Project aims at the supply of potable water for 7 centres in the central,southern, and eastern regions, contribution to the reduction of water borne diseases hence leading to the improvement of the standard of health of the population,reduction of hardships facing the population,especially women, in fetching water. The project is composed of the following components; 1. Civil Works and ancillaries: - Construction of 26 health units, each unit consists of a building with an area of about 180m2 and consists of 2 rooms for treatment, maternity ward and other facilities. - Construction of 5 health centres each centre with an area of about 830 m2 consisting of units of medicine, gynecology a hall for nurses training, a house for the doctor responsible for the centre and administrative building. - Construction of 10 administrative centres for the health areas. Each centre with an area of about 450 m2 and composed of meeting hall, drug store, store for medical equipment and 11 offices. 2. Equipment and Furniture : consisting ofequipment for potable water supply, electric generators, medcal equipment and medical and non-medical furniture 3. Supply of the first consignment of medicines for the units and health centres to to start working immediately after the completion of construction 4- Support of the Project Unit by provision of means of transport and office equipment 5- Project Management Expenses which include the operational expenses of the central coordinating office (BCECO) which will be responsible for the project management 6- Means of transport consisting of 67 motor cycles ( two motor cycles for each health unit and one motor cycle for health centre and administrative centre 7- Consultancy Services for the preparation of detailed

The Project consists of construction and equipping a regional hospital at Phalombe with a capacity of 250 beds, residential complex for doctors and supporting staff with a total area of 40,000m2. the project is composed of the following components: 1. Civil Works and ancillaries which include the hospital building composed of one storey with a built area of m2,houses for doctors and the supporting staff with an area of about 2000m2 and supply of potable water equipment,sewerage and electrical and mechanical equipment. 2. Medical equipment and medical and non-medical furniture which include supply of medical equipment,medical and non-medical furniture for the different departments of the hospital, for houses of doctors, supporting staff. It also includes supply of 2 ambulances, 4 emergency motor cycles and electric generators. 3. Consultancy services: for preparation of detailed designs and tender documents, assisting the in the analysis of bids and supervision of the execution of the works. 4. Institutional support for the Project Unit by provision of a means of transport and office equipment

The new centre will be constructed in two phases and it is composed of 5 stories with a total area of 19,209 m2. The project(phase1) consists of the following main components: 1. Civil works and ancillaries which include the construction of a 3 storey building with a total area of m2 and comprising a unit for the classification of the emergency cases rooms for the diagnosis neurology,radiology unit,10 surgical theatres 14 intensive care units, administrative

Institutional support for the Project Unit by provision of means of transport, office equipment, salaries of the PIU staff and its operational expenses for 36 months. 6. Consultancy services: for the preparation of detailed designs and tender documents for phase(1) and phase(2) assisting in launching the tender documents of (phase1) analysis of offers and supervision of the execution of the works for this phase 7. Auditing of the project account The Project aims at the expansion, development and improvement of the standard of the emergency treatment services at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in the capital Accra to be rendered to the patients who directly come to the hospital or those referred from hospitals in other regions whose number is annually increasing. Hence makes possible to diagnose their cases quickly and provide them with the required treatment. The project also aims at availing educational and training opportunities to the medical cadres in the country, and at meeting the shortfall of these cadres resulting from immigration abroad. - Civil works and ancillaries: On the basis of competitive bidding restricted to African, Arab or mix Arab-African firms.
