IRINS Indian Research Information Network System Kannan P, Scientist C (LS) INFLIBNET Centre
The Challenge Research activities are not interoperable Publications do not reflect expertise Hard to find right expert Faculty members and scholars not aware about research happening within organization. Awareness about open source tools & commercial products are expensive
Solution: An Open Source Research Information Management System to aggregate, curate and utilise the research related information for research reporting and decision making. The INFLIBNET Centre developed an open source software called Indian Research Information Network System ; At present the product is available as software as service ; Soon, we are going to release as open source software; Future- IRINS would be available as subscription based service to the academic institutes.
Functional use of IRINS Internal Reports Institutional Repositories Awards and Grants Management IRINS External Research Assessment Annual academic Reviews Profiles and CV
IRINS is a hub connecting the research landscape Repositories DOI, URI Thesis ID Dataset ID Publications DOI ISBN Funders FundRef ID Grant ID IRINS Other academic identities ORCID Researcher ID Scopus Author ID Internal identifiers Higher Education & Employers ISNI Ringgold ID Professional Associations Member ID
IRINS Department view with Map of Science
IRINS Profile Page Similar Expert Publication Count Same organisation Academic Identity Co-author Network
Faceted Search with filters
Features and Functionalities Research progress of departments and faculty members; Solr based faceted search interface with number of filters to find the expert; Import publications from academic identities such as Microsoft Academic Search ID, Google Scholar ID, Researcher ID, Scopus ID; ORCID ID Integration for publication update; Co-author network and map of science; Metrics from social media and citation from Scopus.
What way the IRINS would support stakeholders? As a Scholar As a Faculty / Scientist As a Administrator Locate mentors, advisors, & collaborators; Locate facilities, events, and fellowship; Their work will be discoverable and connected; Showcase their contributions to the peers group and funding agency; Increasing funding opportunity for research and greater exposure to the international community. Find out the research progress; Build research reports, carry out performance assessments, research impact analysis; Improve faculty collaboration within or across departments and institutions; and Grant Information Management
Support to data sharing Data ingest to National Researcher s Network (VIDWAN), National and International Academic Associations Assisting Policy Maker and Funding Agencies by providing research related information, which includes NIRF, CSIR, DST, UGC, and MHRD; National level multiinstitutional search to facilitate expert finding and research assessment
