1 DONALD R. SOBEY BURSARY PROGRAM Each year, the Donald R. Sobey Bursary Program awards bursaries valued at $2,000 to students entering NSCC on a full-time basis. Overview This bursary is designed to: 1. Encourage and assist you in obtaining a credential from the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). 2. Support you in strengthening your skills and abilities so you can secure meaningful employment. 3. Help you become a role model in your community. Eligibility You may apply for the Donald R. Sobey Bursary Program if you: 1. Are planning to enrol, or are already enrolled, in a full-time program at NSCC, and 2. Have been referred by a member of a community group or agency, and 3. Can show financial need on the Financial Needs Assessment section of the application form. How to apply Submit your completed application to the community organization or law enforcement agency that is referring you. A representative of the agency will submit your Student Application, along with their Community Referral, to NSCC. Your financial situation and other reasons you should be considered for this bursary. 2. The supports you have in place with your referring organization, and how they will help you in achieving your education and career goals.

SOBEY BURSARY PROGRAM STUDENT APPLICATION Please complete all sections of this Student Application and submit it to a representative of the community agency or law enforcement organization being asked to complete the referral. The NSCC Student Awards Office will confirm receipt of your application at the contact information you provide below once it is received. It is your responsibility to follow up with the representative whom is completing your referral to ensure your application is submitted. Access to this information is restricted to NSCC staff with direct responsibility for managing the Student Awards process, along with those individuals who serve on Awards selection committee(s). This personal information may also be used for administrative and statistical purposes by NSCC and the NSCC Foundation. Financial Needs Assessment The purpose of this section is to evaluate student resources against expenses to calculate financial need. It is important to provide the most accurate amounts possible. For any fields that are unknown, best estimates should be given. If you have any questions about any of the fields, please direct these to the NSCC Student Awards Office.
