3 (MNU) and the MNU Educational Foundation MNU is a 15 year old university with over 10,000 students, under graduate and graduate students. The MNU Foundation was independently established to independently solicit and allocate funds for research and development initiatives that use MNU facilities and staff. The Foundation will encourage the transfer of technology for other universities in Asia, Europe and the US and developed at MNU 3

4 Education Foundation Established in 2014 as the independent, private-sector fund-raising entity for Mongolian National University Exists to support the development of the faculties and facilities at MNU, and to fund opportunities for faculty and students. Gifts to the MNUEF may be tax-deductible in international jurisdictions, however in Mongolia they are not tax deductible. Supporting Mongolian National University Education Foundation with a contribution is an investment in the future of Mongolia. Donors are able to donate to the various initiatives approved by the MNUEF Board of Trustees. If donations are made without restrictions, funds remain in the General Fund, which can be allocated by the MNUEF Board of Trustees to a qualifying program, scholarship or initiative. 4

8 Agriculture & Food Services Research Center This department has the main responsibility for the Vertical Greenhouse in the MITC. Particular focus will be given to native plants, herbal medicines in Mongolia. Growing what is here in Mongolia proving the efficacy through Science / clinical studies here at MNU. Medicines that can be made from leaves and flowers Over 1500 Botanicals are known to have cures for High blood pressure, anxiety, acne & Headaches such as SEABUCKTHORN, Dandilions, Fennel etc. Products are then sold at retail on site in the giftshop and also via the Internet exporting the products in Mongolia and internationally through the ecommerce business. 8

11 MNU Partnership with Stanford University Medical Center Stanford Emergency Medical International Dr. S.V. Mahadevan from Stanford is currently in Mongolia speaking with the Ministerof Healthcare Services and establishing a program. The parties will cooperate on the first visit of Dr. Mahadevan to Mongolia and organize a series of seminars for Emergency Room Practitioners, medical students, and the general business community in Mongolia. This series of lectures will cover Emergency Room procedures, and other techniques that can be used to save lives particularly when accidents happen in remote locations. 11

12 Mongolian National Fabrication Laboratory Fab Lab The Mongolian National Fabrication Laboratory - also known as Fab Lab is a workshop where computer controlled tools can create 3 dimensional objects. The Fab Lab will feature the latest in 3D printing. 3D Objects that can be printed or MANUFACTURED ONSITE include: Vehicles Specialty tools Body parts including bones, dentures Workshop tools include: Laser cutter, plasma cutter, water jet cutter, knife cutter: sheet material cutting 3-axis CNC machines: 3 or more axes, computer-controlled subtractive milling or turning machines Rapid prototyper: 3D printer to produce plastic or plaster parts Printed circuit board milling: two-dimensional, high precision milling to create circuit traces in pre-clad copper boards, Microprocessor and digital electronics design, assembly, and test stations 12

14 Renewable Energy Research Center To study all methods and new technologies from around the world of generating, transferring and storing solar energy either as heat or electricity. Research, develop, prove and commercialize these technologies in Mongolia on both small and large scale. All areas of study will be dedicated to making a contribution to helping Mongolia become completely energy independent, and no longer relying on foreign imports of any kind of energy. The MNRERC will also contribute to Mongolia by researching the most sustainable, and environmentally friendly energy principles to Mongolia. 14

20 Coal, Oil & Gas Research Center The Mongolian National Coal, Oil & Gas Research Center will focus on research on new approaches to the exploration, development, and production of coal, oil and gas resources in Mongolia. The success of MNCOGRC will be based on developing effective partnerships with the oil and gas exploration and production industry and government agencies here in Mongolia Areas of Research Geological Characterization and Modeling Lithology, structure, stratigraphy, and petroleum system characterization Static petrophysical modeling Dynamic injection and production modeling Advanced geostatistical modeling Geochemical modeling Supporting Information System Design and Data Management Geographic information system (GIS)-driven exploration tools Reservoir data management and manipulation (geological maps, cross sections, production data) Natural Materials Analytical Research Laboratory (NMARL), including scanning electron microscopy, x- ray diffraction and fluorescence, and other analytical capabilities Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy (GC MS) Laboratory, including oil, water, and CO2 interaction studies 20

21 Logistics & Transportation Research Center The Vision for the Mongolian National Logistics and Transportation Research Center is to become the leader in Mongolia in supply chain management, logistics, and transportation education and research. It is our mission to understand transportation system planning, operations, and management. Areas of study will include logistics modeling and supply chain management for shippers; technology and policy analysis for government; management, planning, and operations for trucking, railroad, air, and ocean carriers. The first project to be considered will be exploring Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for Mongolia, and to facilitate the adoption of these technologies by industries in Mongolia for domestic use as well as use in international logistics operations. Research projects will include: Logistics hubs and clusters Carbon efficient supply chains Scenario planning Supply Chain Strategy alignment Supply chain resilience and security Supply chain network risk management Urban logistics It is the intention to partner with MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics, as well as the The Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies (LSCM R&D Centre). This will, by extension, give MITC access to the supporting organizations of University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. 21

22 Center for Online & Internet Learning The goal of the MNCOIL and MNU will be to become a Member University of the EdX. EdX is a non-profit online initiative created by founding partners Harvard, MIT, among others, offering FREE interactive online classes and MOOCs from the world s best universities. Topics include biology, business, chemistry, computer science, economics, finance, electronics, engineering, food and nutrition, history, humanities, law, literature, math, medicine, music, philosophy, physics, science, statistics and more. 23 Earth Science Center The Goal of the Mongolian National Earth Science Center is to study all aspects of ecology in Mongolia. Understanding the changing conditions wind, water, soil issues in Mongolia, will enable Mongolia to adapt to changes such as Global Warming. This department will operate a weather station at MITC to collect data on temperature, air quality, etc. The study of groundwater resources, and the technologies used to purify, pump, transport and store will also be studied. 23

25 MIT Enterprise Forum Through the strategic alliance with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Forum, MNU is actively setting out to become Mongolia s leading think tank. Enterprise Through this alliance MITC will be able to attract world-recognized scholars, entrepreneurs, investors, politicians, etc. to come to Mongolian National University. The facilities at MNU will enable MNU to host major conferences, intellectual retreats and workshops, bringing together top thinkers and corporate leaders to Mongolia. The MITEF Mongolia events will be free for members but open to the public to attend. Ignite interaction and thought leadership. Bringing brilliant minds to Mongolia.
