5 2012 Canadian Infrastructure Report Card Provided much-needed data at a time when many stakeholders were advocating for a Long-Term Infrastructure Plan (LTIP) Report pointed to a demonstrable need for infrastructure investments to maintain and improve service levels Shed light on asset management practices in Canada 5

7 2016 CIRC: New asset classes, new approach Expanded to include new asset classes: municipal bridges, buildings, sport and recreation facilities and public transit systems Federal-Provincial/ Territorial Sport Committee (FPTSC) and the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) provided funding to support expansion 7

8 2016 CIRC: New asset classes, new approach Survey questionnaire refined and launched in October 2014 Survey period concluded in January 2015 Response rate consistent with 2012 (approx. 120 municipalities) Methodology modified slightly to account for municipal size, reduce overrepresentation of large centres As a result, 2012 and 2016 reports should be viewed as separate snapshots in time. 8
