7 PON 2033 OJT Incentive Overview Category B remaining funds: $675,000 NEW REVISIONS! Funds to support hiring for Contractors with a NYSERDA Partnership Agreement Up to $15K per new hire plus an additional $4K per new hire to offset training costs Maximum award of $180,000 per company

8 Category B Application Process 1. Business submits Intent to Apply to via to: PON2033@nyserda.org 2. Business screened by NYSERDA/NYSDOL (Due Diligence). 3. Business contacted by a NYSDOL Business Services Representative to assists in developing OJT plan and completing application. New Hire Incumbent Worker 4. Business submits application to NYSERDA. 5. If approved, NYSERDA develops contract with business based on OJT plan. 6. Business implements OJT plan. 7. NYSDOL conducts follow-up.

9 Due Diligence The following are checked when vetting a business: Performance on previous NYSERDA contracts or NYSDOL grants. Department of State Registered business. NYS Unemployment Insurance Status and delinquency information. Workers Compensation Status and violations. Disability Insurance Status and violations. NYS Labor Standards Violations, collections, penalties, open investigations. NYS Dept. of Safety and Health Violations, collections, penalties, open investigations. Federal OSHA Violations and open investigations. Public Work Violations, collections, open investigations. WARN (Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Filed.

10 Coordination with DOL One Stops Businesses receive OJT funds for new and incumbent worker training Job seekers supported through career counseling, training, and job placement Training providers receive funding for: Equipment Instructor Train-thetrainer Program accreditation

11 NY Youth Works The Program will have three main audiences: Businesses: can apply for tax credits for hiring disadvantaged youth; Youths aged who meet qualifying criteria may apply for stipends to cover personal costs while in training or starting a new job; and Training and job placement programs may apply to NYS DOL for funds designed to support programs that serve disadvantaged youth in high demand areas like healthcare and green jobs.

12 Tuition Reimbursement Funding for Individuals Attending Training PON 1816 for All Candidates through 5/30/12: After successful completion of BPI certification (50% fees, $200 max NYSERDA incentive) New incentive to be issued Individuals at business with Participation Agreement Contractor or firm demonstrating participation in GJGNY Individuals registered at NYS DOL One-Stop (Assistance for those not yet participating as HP contractor or do not have current Participation Agreement with NYSERDA)
