1 Quota Assignment Process for Young Entrepreneurs 2018 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS You must: Be between the ages of 18 and 39 when applying Start a new sugar bush or buy a sugar bush with no quota and apply for a quota of up to 25,000 taps or Buy a sugar bush with a quota and apply to add a maximum of 25,000 taps The applicant can be a co-owner of the sugar bush, but must control the company. Hold a diploma in maple production or its equivalent. DOCUMENTS TO SUBMIT BY JUNE 15, 2018 A duly completed Young Entrepreneurs form. SEND YOUR DOCUMENTS TO THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS, MAKING SURE THEY ARE POSTMARKED OR ED BY June 15, 2018 Photocopies of two of the following documents to prove your age: driver s license, health insurance card, birth certificate. Your permit to operate a sugar bush on public land with a maximum of 25,000 taps or a certificate from the appropriate ministry, authority, or agent certifying that the sugar bush in question is for the producer s exclusive use. or The deed or successful bid for a sugar bush (with or without quota). The sugar bush plan or Forestry Engineer Certification form signed by the forestry engineer (form available on fpaq.ca). 4 SECTION 2 NUMBER OF TAPS REQUESTED I am applying for an interim quota for a Young Entrepreneur project with taps (max.: 25,000 taps). Section 3 BUSINESS PLAN If you have already submitted a business plan and no changes have been made to your application, tick this box and go to Section 4. However, if your project is on public land, please provide us your operating permit or an up-to-date letter from the appropriate ministry, authority, or agent. SECTION 3.1 SUGAR BUSH LOCATION AND TAPPING CAPACITY Provide a sugar bush plan with GPS boundaries and tapping capacity drawn up by a forestry engineer Or Provide the Forestry Engineer Certification form completed and signed by a forestry engineer undertaking to complete the survey by September 1, 2018, (form: fpaq.ca) Is this sugar bush on private land? 6 SECTION 3.3 FINANCING Demonstrate that you have the necessary financing for your Young Entrepreneurs project in maple production. Provide proof of financing issued by your financial institution (credit approval, financing offer, expression of interest, sufficient personal funds, or any other proof of financing) SECTION 3.4 TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Provide photocopies of diplomas and/or certificates of training in maple production and agriculture. I undertake to notify the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers when my project is completed, before I begin operations with the new taps, by providing the necessary information. I understand that if I want to start operations on my sugar bush in 2019, I must notify the Federation by February 1, 2019, at the latest, whereas if I want to start operations on my sugar bush in 2020, I must notify the Federation by February 1, 2020, at the latest. I understand that I must personally operate the new sugar bush for a minimum of three (3) years and I undertake to do so, failing which, the quota cannot be transferred through a sale or a potential lease of the sugar bush. I understand that if the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers awards me a quota, it may withdraw that quota if I make false declarations in my application, if I do not complete my project in the allotted time, if I do not meet the eligibility criteria, or if I do not provide all of the necessary documents.
