The is admissible for students of Assam domicile only. b. For the category Masters in various Courses at Sl. No. 1, students pursuing Master Course from IIT (s)/ NIT(s)/ Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and are not availing any financial assistance / stipends are eligible to apply. c. Students pursuing full time/regular courses (not correspondence/ distance/ online mode) in Colleges/ University/ Institution recognized by AICTE/State Technical Education Boards/MCI / MOHRD are eligible to apply. d. Overall grade point average (OGPA/ CGPA scale of grading system) shall be equivalent to 50% marks. e. Gross Annual income of the family of the candidate from all sources during a financial year should not be more than Rs 2.0 lakhs. However, in case of non-availability of students within the stipulated income ceiling, the income ceiling may be relaxed up to Rs 4.0 Lakhs.

2 f. The candidate should not be availing or intend to avail any other financial assistance / scholarship from any other source. However, in case of student getting free waiver/ reimbursement of tuition fees from State Government are eligible for applying for the Scholarships. RESERVATIONS: a. Reservation against quota SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWDs shall be regulated as per Government guidelines. b. 50% scholarships shall be reserved for the students from North Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts. For any shortfall in this category, the same shall be made available to candidates from other districts of Assam. c. 50% scholarships shall be reserved for girls students only. For any shortfall in this category, the same shall be made available to boys students. d. Sons / Daughters of NHPC Employee / its Joint Ventures are not eligible to apply. APPLICATION a. NHPC reserves the right to alter, modify or withdraw the Scholarship scheme as considered necessary without any notice. b. Decision of NHPC with regard to selection will be final. No correspondence on the selection process shall be entertained. c. The award of the scholarship shall not confer any right of employment on the beneficiary with NHPC Ltd or its joint ventures. d. Court of jurisdiction for any dispute will be at Dhemaji, Assam. e. Applications not in the prescribed format or received after the closing date or not forwarded through the Head of the Institution with complete supporting documents are liable to be rejected. f. If the detail provided in the application form is found to be incorrect & does not match with the submitted documents, the application of such applicants shall be summarily rejected and no correspondence shall be made / entertained in this regard. *******

3 MERIT CUM INCOME BASIS 1. INTRODUCTION:NHPC Limited, a Govt. of India Enterprise, is a premiere organization in the country with an objective to plan, promote and organize an integrated and efficient development of hydroelectric power in India. Moreover, NHPC Limited is also working towards development of Power in all its aspects through conventional and nonconventional sources in India and abroad. NHPC Limited is committed to socio-economic development of the society. Since, Education is the most important tool of empowerment for overall development of an individual and the society at large, as such NHPC has introduced NHPC FELLOWSHIP SCHEME FOR ASSAM. Under this scheme, offered courses, for the academic session commencing from 2016, are Masters in various courses from Indian Institute of Technology/ National Institute of Technology/ Indian Institute of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, MBBS, MBA, Masters in Geology/ Geophysics, Post Graduate Degree in Mass Communication & Journalism/ Hotel Management, Graduate Degree in Mass Communication & Journalism/ Hotel Management, Diploma in Engineering and ITI. 2. OBJECTIVE OF THE SCHEME: The main objective of the Scheme is to support & promote the needy, meritorious & talented students of Assam domicile, especially in the vicinity of Subansiri Lower H.E. Project, thereby giving impetus to students from economically weaker section of society to undertake quality professional education. 3. NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIP: A total of 214 scholarships shall be awarded to the students enrolled for the academic session commencing from The Scholarship scheme for 2016 shall be as under: Table -1: Details of the Scholarship scheme Sl. The Scholarships are open for students of Assam domicile. 50% of scholarship shall be reserved for the students from North Lakhimpur and Dhemaji Districts. For any shortfall in respect of 50% quota for candidates belonging to Dhemaji & North Lakhimpur Districts of Assam, the same shall be made available to candidates from other districts of Assam. Further, 50% Scholarships shall be reserved for Girls student. For any shortfall in respect of 50% quota for girls, the same shall be made available to boys students. Reservation will be given to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, Other Backward Class, as per Government guidelines. Sons / Daughters of NHPC Employee / its Joint Venture are not eligible to apply. For eligibility under Masters Course, students enrolled in IITs/NITs/IISc for the academic session commencing from 2016 shall only be eligible. Further, the scholarship shall be awarded to only those Students who are pursuing Masters P a g e 2

5 Course from IIT(s)/NIT(s)/IISc from their own source and are not availing any financial assistance/ stipends. 4.0 Eligibility: 4.1. The NHPC Scholarship scheme shall be admissible for students of Assam domicile enrolled in full time/regular courses (not Correspondence/distance/online mode) in Colleges/University/Institution recognized by AICTE/State Technical Education Boards/MCI/MoHRD for various offered courses under the scheme, as mentioned in Table 1 above. Students enrolled for the academic session commencing from 2016 are only eligible to apply. 4.2 Candidate should have obtained minimum 50% marks in qualifying examinations for various offered courses as per Table 1 above. In case where Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA or OGPA) system of grading is adopted, the same should be equivalent to 50% marks in the qualifying examinations for various offered courses as per Table 1 above. Further, in case of Masters Course, students enrolled in IITs/NITs/IISc shall only be eligible and are required to furnish proof of admission in the said Institutes duly certified by the concerned Authority of the Institute. 4.3 Gross Annual income of family of the candidate from all sources during a financial year should not be more than Rs 2.0 lakhs. However, in case of non-availability of students within the stipulated income ceiling, the income ceiling may be relaxed up to Rs 4.0 Lakhs and the preference of selection shall be regulated as under: 1 st Preference: Up to Rs 2.0 Lakhs 2 nd Preference: Above Rs 2.0 Lakhs upto Rs 3.0 Lakhs. 3 rd Preference: Above Rs 3.0 Lakhs upto Rs 4.0 Lakhs. Income certificate must be got issued from the District Revenue Authority not below the rank of Tehsildar. Any affidavit submitted as income proof shall not be accepted. However, in case of Masters Course, the ceiling of annual income shall be relaxed in the event of non-availability of students within the above stipulated annual income ceiling. 4.4 The candidate should not be availing or intend to avail any other financial assistance/ scholarship/ stipend from any other source. However, in case of student getting fee waiver/ reimbursement of tuition fees from State Government are eligible for applying for the Scholarships. P a g e 3

6 5.0 Value, Duration and Disbursement of Scholarship: 5.1 Amount and Duration: The Scholarship amounts as specified in Table -1 under each category shall be awarded for the entire duration of course period for the academic session commencing from Disbursement: The amount shall be paid annually/semester wise as the case may be. The scholarship amount shall be credited directly by NHPC to the Student s Bank Account through Electronic Clearing Service (ECS)/ Credit Clearing Mechanism (CCM). The model mandate ECS Form annexed as Annexure-B and ECS Form duly filled & certified by the concerned Bank is required to be submitted by the Students along with the Application Form. 5.3 Continuation of Scholarship: Scholarship shall be continued on the basis of the performance of the students which shall be reviewed annually/ semester wise, as the case may be, for which students shall secure minimum 50% or more marks, on aggregate basis, in their last academic year/ academic semester respectively. Disbursement, either annually or semester wise, as the case may be, shall be made upon furnishing of the result of their last academic semester/ academic year in the prescribed format given in Annexure-A. Any change in the banking details with respect to ECS clearance shall be intimated to NHPC as per format given in Annexure A. 6.0 Procedure for award of Scholarship: The award of scholarship will be regulated as under: 6.1 Application: Students, aspiring for award of scholarship under NHPC Fellowship Scheme for Assam 2016 for offered courses as mentioned in Table 1 above, shall download the Application Form from the NHPCs Website or Websites as mentioned in the press Advertisement. Application forms submitted to NHPC at the postal address mentioned in the Application Form after publication of advertisement in this regard shall only be accepted for evaluation. The duly filled application form along with the relevant documents as per check list received on or before last date of submission of Application Form shall only be considered. 6.2 Selection: Selection shall be made strictly on Merit cum Income basis which will be scrutinized, shortlisted and recommended by a Constituted Selection Body of NHPC Ltd. The short listed candidate will be informed separately by post/ . The final list of Scholarships beneficiaries shall also be uploaded on NHPC website i.e Decision of NHPC with respect to award of Scholarship and continuance and/ or discontinuance as the case may be shall be final and binding.
