2 Introduction The aim of this user guide is to inform subscribers on how to use the Grants 4 Schools ( website. The guide will cover the following areas: How to effectively search for grants How to access information on the latest funding opportunities and calls for proposals Logging In To access the Grants 4 Schools website please go to To access the Grants 4 Schools Members area please enter your log in details. Once logged in you will have access to a range of grant finding tools via the dashboard You can search for grants using the: Advanced Grant Search Function Grant Directories Grant Mind Maps View information on: The latest funding opportunities Deadline reminders Case studies of schools that have successfully applied for grants Featured grant makers in our spotlight section View your account details including: Your subscription status Grants that you have saved Grant searches you have saved

3 How to Search for Grants The Grants 4 Schools website offers three search options. How to Conduct an Advanced Grant Search These are covered in detail below. To use the Advanced Grant Search: Step 1 - Select a region/enter your post code Step 2 - Select the type of school you are Step 3 - Specify the grant category Step 4 - Select the Funding Agency (optional) and Funding Type [capital/revenue] (optional) Step 5 - Press the Search Now button. Search Results Tip: Both the searches and individual grants listed in the search results can be saved to My Grants 4 Schools section of the website. This will allow you to retrieve grants and searches at a later stage.

4 Funding Information To obtain more detailed information on each of the grants click on either the name of the grant or the view button. This will provide you with more detailed information including the eligibility criteria, description of what the grant will fund, the level of funding available, the contact details and a link to access the Funders website where you will be able to access the guidelines and application forms. How to Use the Grant Directories To access funding information via the Grant Directories simply choose the relevant grant category. For example clicking on the Basic Skills and Raising Achievement category will bring forward three pages of search results. An excerpt of these is highlighted on the next page.

5 Using the Grants 4 Schools Mind Map The Grants 4 Schools Mind Map provides a complete overview of the funding available. The Mind Map is interactive and to access a funders website just click on any of the links. This will take you to the web site of the Funder selected.

6 How to use the Latest Funding Updates One of the key aims of the Grants 4 Schools website is to keep our subscribers updated with the new funding opportunities. Each news item provides a short summary of the new funding opportunity. For further information on each news item, click either on the heading or the view button. TIP: It is worth visiting this section regularly as it is updated several times a week. How to Use the Funding Reminders section The Funding Reminders section of the Grants 4 Schools website provides information on grants that are currently open for applications. Each grant entry provides information on the funding available, the closing date for applications and a link where you can access more information, including in many case online application forms.

7 How to Use the Case Studies Section The Case Studies section of the Grants 4 Schools website provides concrete examples of schools that have successfully applied for funding to a wide range of grant makers. The case studies provide a short summary of the grant maker, together with information on what funding was made available. How to Use the In the Spotlight Section As part of our aim to help schools maximise their funding potential, Grants 4 schools is putting specific funding sources and funding case studies under the spotlight. In particular, we are highlighting and analysing grants and grant makers that offer real funding opportunities to schools as well as case studies of good practice.
