8 Science-based targets Commitment to work on setting SBT Setting SBT and roadmap to 2030 and 2050 Monitoring, readjusting SBT and roadmap Tourism has one of the largest growth among sectors: By 2060 the unmitigated share of tourism annual emissions will be larger than the global agreed emissions Targets should be in line with Paris Agreement to contribute to SDG 13 (Climate Action) 193 companies are already taking the lead on sciencebased targets 8

9 SBT pathways Efficiency: pursuing the highest and most innovative levels of efficient technology, FF&E, and best practice operations; designing highly efficient buildings, engaging guests to be more efficient, and optimizing the best solutions for carbon reduction through efficiency pathways. Renewables: producing and sourcing more renewable energy directly on-site at properties, procuring energy from partners in innovative agreements, and supporting the acceleration of power grids toward renewables and away from fossil fuels. Electrification: supporting the transition to electrification of equipment, and building an infrastructure to generate, store, and distribute electricity across a network.

10 SBTs: Recommendations Focus on risk, not cost Approach SBTs as a leadership opportunity, move the discussion from technical teams to board level Seize the low-hanging fruits: there are plenty of opportunities to bridge the gap between the lowest to the highest performing tourism products and services. Reach higher by stimulating competition and creativity in your sector. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, and some of them are yet to be developed Be aware of the target but don t be ruled by the target
