6 D EFINIT IONS OF R ELEVANT T ERMINOLOGY UNDER S ECTION 2 Amendment Application : An application for a request for revisions of ongoing previously approved research project, during the period for which approval is authorized. Any amendment to the already approved research project must be reviewed and approved before the change or revision can be implemented Continuing Review Application : An application for approval to continue an ongoing research project; initial approval and any subsequent approvals to carry on the research will be for specified periods of time often one year but could be more less depending on the type of research project and as requested by the Research Ethics Review Committee Expedited Review : A review conducted by the RERC Chair or a designated voting member or group of voting members, rather than at a convened RERC meeting. Protocols eligible for expedited review must meet the requirements set forth in 45 CFR , i.e. protocols present no greater than minimal risk and fall within the listed categories which are stated in the DHCC HRPP Policies, Category I Chapter 2 (HRPP I.2) and as confirmed by RERC staff. Investigators may also request expedited review for minor changes in approved and ongoing research. Extramural Funded Research: project initiated by an institution An external funding body provides capital or funds for a specific Full Review : A review conducted by the RERC at a convened meeting.
