3 Class of 2011 P O S T - G R A D U A T E S U R V E Y E X E C U T I V E S U M M A RY ABOUT THE SURVEY The purpose of the annual post-graduate survey is to capture information on the employment and graduate school status of Messiah College alumni within six to nine months of graduation. Statistics provided are based on information received through a variety of methods. An electronic survey was created using Qualtrics, and distributed in October via . Follow up s were then sent in November and December to alumni who had not yet responded to the survey. Information on non-responders was then gathered from updated professional profiles on social media sites such as LinkedIn. Finally, individual academic departments were contacted via phone or , and a request was distributed to all Messiah College educators for any additional information on graduates whose status remained unknown. Through this extensive process, responses were collected from 49 percent of the Class of The goal of this report is to provide summary highlights, as well as a breakdown by academic departments, of the post-graduate activity for the Class of GENERAL SUMMARY Graduates of the Class of 2011 were asked to identify their primary activity 6 to 9 months after graduation. 5% 21% Employed Grad School Still Seeking 74% 95% of the Class of 2011 survey respondents were employed or in a graduate or professional program within 6 to 9 months after graduation. 74% of the respondents secured employment while 21% indicated a graduate or professional program as their primary activity. According to a benchmarking survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the national average for securing employment 7-12 months after graduation was 56%. Therefore, the Messiah College Class of 2011 ranked higher (74%) than their peers in their rate of securing employment. Additionally, the average time it took seniors nationwide to land a job was 7.74 months. Page 3

4 GEOGRAPHIC DESTINATIONS The geographic destinations for the Class of 2011 spanned the United States as well as international locations. In the U.S., the Northeast continues to be the strongest draw for Messiah College graduates, constituting approximately 79% of the graduates. 5 EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION 74 percent of the Class of 2011 survey respondents reported employment as their primary activity following graduation. Graduates who are in full-time work, part-time work, post-graduate internships, and missions/volunteer work are considered as employed for the purposes of the survey.
