The Provisional Dept. of Indian Territory was separated from the Dept. of Oklahoma on 22 June, becoming a Permanent Department on 3 July. It recombined and merged into the Dept. of Oklahoma on May 1908 (a few months after the Oklahoma and Indian Territories combined to form the new state).
