1 Tuition Assistance Programs (Includes directions for applying) There are three Tuition Assistance Programs that are available to school families: 1. The Archdiocese of San Francisco Family Grant Program 2. The Basic Fund Program 3. The St. Patrick s Parish Tuition Assistance Program The Archdiocese of San Francisco and the St. Patrick s Parish Tuition Assistance Program use the TADS Service as a third-party information data entry service and provider. All families applying for the Archdiocese Family Grant and for St. Patrick s Parish Tuition assistance MUST use the TADS services. An online TADS application must be submitted by April 15 th. The TADS application process is exclusively an on-line process. To use the TADS Financial Aid online application, go to If you have any questions, you can phone TADS at More information is included in this document. The deadline for submitting your TADS application is APRIL 15, Archdiocesan Family Grant and Scholarship Information For school year , We continue to offer assistance on an as-needed basis. For the Elementary students, April 15th is the deadline for submitting all information to TADS, the third-party-need evaluation company that we use to collect the financial data from our families. Late applications will NOT be considered. Students must live in San Mateo, San Francisco or Marin Counties. We expect to announce the awards to elementary student families at the end of May.
2 Looking for an application? Go to: bascifund.org The BASIC Fund is a privately funded organization providing partial-tuition scholarships to low-income families across the Bay Area, helping them afford the cost of tuition at the private school of their choice. This program is intended as a helping hand for families enrolling their children at a private school for the first time. The model of providing partial tuition scholarships to low-income families is one of the simplest, most immediate and effective ways to educate children. The mission of the Basic Fund is to broaden educational opportunities for low-income families around the Bay Area by helping them afford the cost of tuition at the private school of their choice. Scholarships are available to students entering K-8th grade. PLEASE NOTE: Anyone submitting an application for a new student after our final deadline in APRIL will be placed on a waiting list. TO APPLY FOR A BASIC FUND SCHOLARSHIP Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning in January each year. The earlier you apply the better your chances of receiving a scholarship! If funds are not available when we receive your completed application, we will keep your application on a wait-list. Participating families are required to contribute to their children s education and are therefore responsible for costs not covered by the scholarship. Each family agrees to pay a minimum of $500 per school year towards their children's tuition. Grants are renewable annually provided that the family keeps up their portion of the tuition payments, the family remains financially eligible, and the child remains enrolled in an accredited private school in Kindergarten through eighth grade. The maximum award we provide per student per school year is $1,600. Here are the general deadlines you need to know for your BASIC Fund scholarship: January: New student application forms available. Early March: Deadline for new student applications. March: Returning student s renewal packages distributed via your school. April: Renewals due for all returning students.
3 Anyone submitting an application after our final priority deadline will be put on a waiting list. Tuition Assistance Program Tuition assistance is available to families at St. Patrick School on a family need basis. Any family who cannot otherwise afford to send their children to our school is welcomed to apply for tuition assistance. In order to serve as many families as is possible, the maximum award for tuition assistance is $1,600 to $2,500 per child, per year with the maximum financial award of $5,000 per family. Since this amount cannot cover most of the assistance that may be needed, we encourage families to apply to the Basic Fund and the Archdiocese Family Grant Program. Please note, students must be enrolled for one year before families are eligible for Parish tuition assistance. In addition, an online TADS application MUST be submitted by April 15. St. Patrick Church Tuition Assistance applications are available from the St. Patrick s Rectory and the St. Patrick School office. How to get started 1. Applications for tuition assistance are to be completed online through the TADS website. Please go to to complete the online application. All applications for tuition assistance must be submitted by April 15 th. 2. Gather information on family size, total income, amount of savings, amount of investments, amount of indebtedness, medical and dental expenses, any unusual expenses, and other assets such as home equity. 3. When filling out the application, be sure to inform TADS of which schools should receive your information. Please be aware that if a school you re
4 applying to is not a TADS school, you may have to fill out additional forms. However, TADS is happy to send your information to any school you wish. 4. Submit to TADS online, by fax or mail any necessary personal financial information. The TADS online submission form utilizes secure, encrypted data and a helpful online wizard that make this the safest and easiest way to submit your information. If you fill out a paper application, we recommend you request the Parental Report as a record of your data. 5. TADS will review your application and help you identify discretionary income that can be applied toward tuition costs. TADS then submits a final report to your school. 6. The school uses the TADS report, and any other required information, to make its decision in awarding aid. You are then contacted with the results of your application. Before you begin your online financial aid application, you should have the following information in front of you: 1. Payment form (credit card or checking account number) 2. Employment information for all parents and guardians, including: - Most recent pay stubs and W-2 forms - Actual gross income for each job during last year and estimated income for each job next year 3.
