1 ANNUAL REPORT

2 President s Message During the year, it was my privilege to serve as the President of South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation Board of Directors. As I have served on the board, the generosity of the community continues to amaze me as they give of their time, talents, equipment and monetary donations. During this past year, we were able to raise over $173,000 for scholarships to directly support our students on campus. In , as a non-traditional student, I was a recipient of a scholarship from SCC as I pursued my AAS degree in Accounting. Obtaining my degree at SCC is one of those life moments that I hold dear. I can attest that my education was first rate, and upon completion it opened new career doors for me. I can tell you first hand that receiving a scholarship made me feel connected to my community. I took great pride in knowing that a business from the local area saw a benefit to investing in me, as a student, to help me reach my career goal and my degree. I was working full time at a local financial institution, a mother of 5 children, carrying a full load of credits to finish in two years. The scholarship lightened my financial burden, for which I am forever grateful. Because of the support I received when I needed it, I am now giving back, as a volunteer and board member of the Foundation. I want to thank each of you, for your contributions to the fundraising activities, allowing the Foundation to fund so many, much-appreciated scholarships. I also want to thank Shelly as the director, and the Foundation Board members for their commitment to keeping the foundation strong to support students in the future. By investing in today s students, the future continues to look brighter. The Foundation could not exist without your generosity. Thank you! Sincerely, Carla T. Brady SCC Foundation Board President

3 Points of Pride The Foundation committed $106,200 in scholarships to Faribault campus students for Presidential Scholar Hamdi Abdi from Owatonna High School graduated in May with an Associate of Arts degree and Hunter Gare from Faribault High School was selected as the Presidential Scholar. Hunter will receive free tuition for two years to pursue an Associate of Arts degree. In FY16 the South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation provided a $6.36 return on investment for every $1.00 of public funds invested by South Central College. MRG Tool & Die employee gifts were matched by the company during the fifth annual Corporate Alumni Campaign. Their gifts with match have raised nearly $29,000 for Computer Integrated Machining student scholarships. The John Tobin Endowment was finalized and a scholarship fund was started in memory of Gordy Adamek. Endowed Funds Endowments can be established to support scholarships or general initiatives of the college and provide annual support using the interest earned. A gift of $10,000 is the minimum to set up an endowment. Gifts can be made all at once or over a three year period.
