Mr. Ciampaglio is a 23-year veteran of the US Coast Guard where he focused on Maritime Operations, Training and Education, and Balanced Scorecard Strategic Planning. He brings more than 34 years of service and achievement in challenging military and private-sector business leadership positions. Mr. Ciampaglio is a service-disabled Veteran with a Masters of Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon and former Adjunct professor at The George Washington University and Associate Professor at the Coast Guard Academy (2001 Instructor of the Year). While on active duty, Mr. Ciampaglio was the Operations Officer at Sector Key West, he supervised 10 Cutters, 3 Stations, and 600 people in round-the-clock operations including Search and Rescue, Alien Migrant Interdiction Operations, Counter Narcotics, Living Resources, Infrastructure Protection, Homeland Security and others in the CG's most visible/demanding area of responsibility. He managed five evacuations of 600 Coast Guard Active Duty personnel and their dependents during seven hurricanes, coordinating with Federal, State and local entities for the safe evacuation/return of civilians and rescues of people in distress. He commanded the first overseas 110 mixed gender crew Cutter and successfully completed 40+ Law Enforcement/Search and Rescue missions. He was named U.S. Coast Guard District 14 Officer of the Year He has facilitated strategy development for VHA (Under Secretary), VA VISN 5, U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, The Surgeon General of the Army, National Institutes of Health, DoD s Hearing Center of Excellent, and numerous commercial firms.
