4 TURKEY S FIGHT AGAINST THE PROLIFERATION OF WMD The proliferation of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and their means of delivery continue to be a matter of serious concern for Turkey. Situated close to regions posing high risks of proliferation, Turkey not only monitors developments in this field, but also takes part in collective efforts aimed at devising measures to reverse this alarming trend. In line with its stance, Turkey attaches great importance to arms control and non-proliferation treaties and also to export controls regimes as means of preventing such proliferation. 4

11 EXPORT CONTROLS: COOPERATION ON THE GROUND We receive intelligence (either through own intel channels /or through international cooperation Immediate action by MFA: call on board interagency task force Depending on the intelligence: relevant export control authority + intelligence insight sought + if necessary military advice (including naval/air) Ability to confirm proper licencing/customs info Intelligence needs to be on time and accurate. 11
