The recipient is in full time study and has completed at least five full course credits and no more than thirteen. They will be selected for their volunteer work outside the university. 7 Amended Source of Funds: Donor: Value: Mark & Lorraine Weisdorf Family Scholarship for Programs at Innis College Endowment Total: $ (see Notes below) Mark and Lorraine Weisdorf and friends Annual Income Council To be awarded to an undergraduate student enrolled in Cinema Studies or Urban Studies with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.70 or above as they pass their 5 th, 10 th & 15 th courses completed in the FAS will be considered. To receive the award, recipients must register at in the subsequent Fall/Winter academic session. (see Note 5) The scholarship will rotate between the two academic programs. Students will be considered on the basis of merit, however, if no suitable candidate can be found, the award will be made based on merit and financial need. First Award: Not required (under these terms) Annually Authorized on Behalf of the Academic Board of the Governing Council: September 17, 2013 NOTES: 1. The endowment consists of an original donation of $25,000 and an additional donation of $5,000 both by Mark & Lorraine Weisdorf, James Penturn made a gift of $2,500; and there were many other donors. Total value of donations: $62,378, plus matching funds from the University of Toronto in the amount of $52, The funds will/were matched by the University of Toronto as per agreement made with the University s Provost and the Principal of. 3. As of 2010, this award will rotate between the Urban Studies and the Cinema Studies academic programs. The 2010 award started with a Cinema Studies student. 4. In the absence of an eligible candidate in any year, the income may be carried forward to the following year or returned to the endowment. 8 5. Students are considered according to a practice established by the Recruitment, Admissions, and Awards Committee (RAAC) for deciding in-course awards. The CGPA to be used is the updated CGPA at the end of an academic session wherein the student s credit count reached or passed 5.0, 10.0, or 15.0 credits completed in the FAS, Furthermore, all eligible students must have been registered at in the aforementioned Fall/Winter of Summer Session. Typically, to receive the award, the recipient must register at in a subsequent academic session as an ongoing degree student. An exception can be made in cases where students reach their 10 th or 15 th degree credit course undertaken in the FAS and also graduate in the same session, if the student s overall credits include advanced standing high school credits obtained on admission. Students enrolled in a second undergraduate degree are not considered for in-course scholarships. Should an eligible student defer registration for up to one calendar year, the scholarship will also be deferred. Students with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.70 as they pass their 5 th, 10 th & 15 th courses completed in the FAS will be considered. To receive the award, recipients must register at in the subsequent Fall/Winter academic session. (see Note 6). The scholarship will rotate between the two academic programs with 2 consecutive years awarded to a Cinema Studies student. First Award: Not required (under these terms) Annually Authorized on Behalf of the Academic Board of the Governing Council: September 17, 2013 NOTES: 1. The funds will be matched by the Government of Ontario pursuant to the Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS). 2. The endowment is comprised of a donation from the donors in the amount of $25,000 and matching funds from OTSS in the amount of $25,000 for a total endowment of $50, The annual income available for awards must be awarded in compliance with the OTSS program guidelines and the Policy on Student Financial Support. OTSS guidelines attached. 4. This Award will rotate between the Urban Studies and Cinema Studies student. 5. In the absence of an eligible candidate in any year, the income may be carried forward to the following year or returned to the endowment. 6. Second term instalment of the Residence Fee (see Note 2) Maximum allowable given the endowment s annual income. Council, on the advice of the Recruitment, Admissions, and Awards Committee and in consultation with the Dean of Students and Residence. To be awarded to outstanding Innis Residence students. First year students may be considered only in the absence of a sufficient number of outstanding upper-year candidates. Candidates must be in good standing in their Faculty, they must demonstrate financial need, and they and must demonstrate distinguished voluntary commitment to fostering and supporting community life in the Innis Residence. Financial need may be considered but is not a requirement. To receive the award, the recipients must live in the Innis Residence for the balance of the session in which the award is given. Candidates who have previously received a Taddle Creek Residence Life Award will be considered on the basis of achievements since receipt of the last award. 12 NOTES: 1. The original endowment is comprised of donations from the donors in the amount of $227,000. The OSOTF endowment is comprised of donations in the amount of $660 and matching funds in the amount of $660 from the OSOTF extension. 2. The awarding body is given the discretionary authority to top up the award amount evenly across recipients, above the value of the second term installmentaward, especially in situations where it limits unused funds/carry over to the next year. 13 Wasser Leadership Award Source of Funds: Endowment $300,000 Donor: Value: Larry and Marla Wasser Annual Income will support: up to 6 (six) Wasser achievement approximately $1,000 each and up to 3 (three) Wasser approximately $3,000 Council Wasser Achievement Awards The Wasser Achievement Awards aim to encourage student leadership at all levels and in all years at the College. They are to be awarded on the basis of academic standing, contribution to, the University of Toronto, their workplace or their community. The awards will be decided at the end of each winter session and will be tenable on registration in the next session. Wasser Scholarships The Wasser Scholarship recognize sustained leadership contributions over several years. All candidates will exhibit the promise of transferring their leadership skills to their community or workplace after graduation. The Scholarships will be awarded to senior year students who have excelled academically and who have made outstanding contributions through their involvement in student life, their voluntary activities, and their service to others. The scholarships will be decided after the winter session of each academic year and non-graduating students will normally be expected to register in the subsequent academic year to be eligible to receive the award. Senior students are students who have completed at least 14.0 courses when decisions on the awards are made. A student is eligible for only one Wasser Leadership Award in a given academic year. Candidates for a Wasser Achievement Award who have previously received a Wasser Achievement Award will be considered on the basis of achievement since receipt of the last award. A student is eligible for only one Wasser ScholarhsipScholarship in an undergraduate career. 2
