Seek nomination from your school through your principal or guidance counselor. 2. Complete the application form. 3. Send to your regional committee to be received by the deadline. Value Eligibility Criteria Selection Criteria 30 available, valued up to 100,000 over four years (mentoring, summer program, orientation expeditions) 40 additional awards $3, provincial awards $2,000 Be in their final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school. Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%. Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status. Be at least 16 years of age by September 1, 2016 Loran Scholars are chosen for their character, service and leadership potential. They deeply value integrity and honesty, are curious by nature and are interested in a wide range of subjects. Furthermore, they are willing to take meaningful risks and prioritize results over appearances. Each Loran Scholar has shown a sustained commitment to service in the community, has taken the initiative to create positive changes and is interested in working for a better world.
2 Award Due Date Number of Applicants/ School Horatio Alger Ontario Scholarship Program ca/en/scholarships October 25 th 2016 Value Eligibility Criteria $10,000 Be enrolled full time in the terminal year of high school and taking classes through Spring 2016, progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2016 with plans to enter a post-secondary institution no later than the fall following graduation Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a degree at a post-secondary institution (in Quebec a three year vocational program or a two year preparatory program followed by a university degree are acceptable) Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or less annual net income per family is required) Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity Maintain a minimum grade percentage of 65 Attend high school and reside in Canada Be a Canadian citizen University of Toronto National Book Awards onto.ca/awards/thenational-and-arborscholarshipprogram/ November sponsored / school Award recipients receive a National Book Award recognizing their achievements, and as a symbol of their academic potential. It is a non-monetary award. The book will be presented to the student at their secondary school graduation ceremony at the end of the school year. Students nominated for this award are invited to submit an application to the National Scholarship Program (see below). The University of Toronto National Book Award Program is intended to recognize and reward the very best Canadian secondary school students, regardless of which university those students choose to attend. These are students who demonstrate superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context. They excel in academic pursuits, demonstrate enthusiasm for intellectual exploration and have a strong involvement in the lives of their schools and communities.
