4 JCF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR POST GRADUATE/SPECIALIZED STUDY BASSIA & SASCHA MARMERSTEIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP $1000 for studies in piano performance Established in 2008 by the family of Bassia and Sascha Marmerstein, this scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving student majoring in piano performance at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. Based on high academic standing and active involvement in the community, the scholarship is available to students registered in undergraduate, graduate or diploma programs. 5 LIELA KLINGER KURTZMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP $500 for studies in education Created in memory of Liela Klinger Kurtzman, a devoted and lifelong educator, this scholarship is awarded to a student entering, or already in, a certified university teaching program. Based on need and academit merit, preference will be given to candidates with a history of communal involvement. 6 MIREILLE & MURRAY STEINBERG SCHOLARSHIP up to $5000 for post-graduate study Given annually and based on need and academic merit, the award will go to a Quebec student pursuing full time study towards a post-graduate degree at a Quebec based institution of higher learning. HENRY OELBERG MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP $ 2,500 Bursary for Graduate Work in Social Work at McGill University Created in memory of lifelong Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal colleague and friend, Henry Oelberg, this fellowship for a Quebec student will be considered on academic merit and preferably need. Preference will be given to a student with a focus on community organization. Award will be granted by McGill University s School of Social Work by August 31 of each year. LATT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP for female graduates entering medical school Karen Latt earned her bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biology with an emphasis in neurobiology from the University of California at Berkeley. She excelled both in and out of the classroom, as a competitive athlete and volunteer while making the Dean's List. She was accepted into the Class of 1997 Tuft's Medical School, with plans of becoming a cardiologist. Following her accidental death in July of 1993, this fund was established in her memory by her family and friends.
