1 The Arundel Athletic Boosters 2018 Scholarships The Arundel Athletic Boosters will award two $1,000 scholarships and two $500 scholarships to four Arundel High School graduating senior student athletes. Student athletes must have participated in at least one sport during their senior year to apply. The purpose of this scholarship is to reward student athletes for their participation and accomplishments in athletics, leadership positions held in each sport, their academic performance, character, leadership and their service to the community. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to both a male and female student athlete and one $500 scholarship will be awarded to both a male and female student athlete (for a total of four scholarships). To apply for this scholarship: 1. Applicant must be an Arundel High School graduating senior; 2. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (GPA) after seven semesters; and must exhibit good character. 3. Applicant must have donated time and/or talent in service to the community volunteer work at school, church, nursing home, charitable organization, etc. 4. Applicant must be admitted to or planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college in a degree program.

Applicant must complete the application, provide a written recommendation from at least one coach the student athlete has played for while at Arundel High School, and write one essay (details below). The topic for the 2018 Arundel Athletic Boosters Scholarship is, Rather than only share your accomplishments, tell us about the greatest challenge or moment of adversity you have faced as a student athlete at Arundel High School and how it will influence you in your next step as a college student. 6. Completed application must be returned to the Arundel High School Athletic Director s office no later than 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, All information provided must be legible, correct and verifiable and any applications received after the due date will not be eligible for consideration. 7. The Arundel Athletic Boosters Board of Directors will award scholarships based on an objective assessment of all information provided by the applicant. 8. Presentation of the recipients will take place as part of the Arundel High School Senior Awards Night Thursday, May 17, 2018.

(Example Indoor Track, 55M State Champion, 7.58; Soccer, 2010 Anne Arundel County Champions): List any other extra-curricular activities in which you have participated, other than athletics, while at Arundel High School, and any office held. (Example: National Honor Society; Key Club 9, 10, 11, 12 Secretary 11, President 12; AMP 12)

5 List any community service and/or volunteer activities, as well as employment you may have participated in while a student athlete at Arundel High School, including both in school and out of school activities. (Example: Food Bank volunteer 10, 12; Wegman s part time job, cashier; Girl Scout 10; Clean the Bay volunteer, 11,12):

6 Arundel Athletic Boosters Scholarship Essay You are required to write an essay as part of your scholarship application. The essay must be at least 500 words. The scholarship committee will deduct points for poor grammar, misspelled words and improper use of punctuation. In other words, don t Tweet or text an essay! Essays should be completed and saved as a PDF document, printed and attached to your scholarship application. The title of your essay should be at the top of the paper, along with your full name.
