5 The standards Development began late 2009 (based on ISAS standards) IQIPS Accreditation Specialism specific working groups and the cross-discipline Accreditation Clinical Advisory Group (ACAG) were formed Grounded in evidence and outcome based standards and material were drafted by ACAG and the working groups The material was piloted A public consultation has been carried out 26 standards

13 IQIPS 6 monthly Census purpose and benefits IQIPS Accreditation October 2012 and March 2013 two national IQIPS census The census is of substantial importance to the programme and its purpose is to generate numerous benefits to the participating services. Results can be used to Identify areas of strengths and weaknesses in the service Produce national anonymised data Inform national policy Inform the IQIPS quality improvement programme Demonstrate the willingness of the service to engage with quality improvement Give physiological sciences national and local status

20 Introduction to UKAS UKAS established in 1995 as a non-profit distributing private company limited by guarantee Originated in 1966; 47 years of accreditation experience The UK s national accreditation body; EU Regulation gives legal framework for accreditation Performance is monitored by government and peerassessed internationally

22 Who does the assessments Team of assessors, to include: UKAS Assessment manager Peer Assessors All assessors recruited, trained and monitored by UKAS Assessment team will make a recommendation to UKAS
