1 Year to by School and Program Years to Graduate Biomedical Doctor of Medical Physics 5-6 years CAMPEP - A professional doctorate program, typically leading to a degree of Doctor of Medical Physics (DMP) consists of at least two years of didactic education followed by at least two years of clinical education. MS Dental Hygiene The Master of Science in Dental Hygiene program meets the minimum required 30-semester credit hour requirement for a graduate program. Six hours of Thesis DENH 6098 in addition to the minimum SCH includes an intensive research course and experiential hours. This Master program prepares the professional dental hygienist for employment in health promotion/education, management/administration, research, advanced clinical practice, and consumer advocacy. MS Dental Science years MS in Dental Science meets the minimum required semester credit hour requirement (30 SCH) for an MS program. The 2 to 4 hours, depending on Track, additional to the minimum SCH include research courses and experiential hours required to be prepared for employment in an academic position in dentistry. Graduate Biomedical PhD Nursing years The PhD in Nursing meets the minimum requirement of 72 sch for nursing doctoral programs. The 9 hours above the minimum included in the program plan of study introduce and reinforce competencies in the student s substantive area expected of research scientists. MS Cell Systems and Anatomy The Cell Systems & Anatomy Master s Program has two tracks; that both meet the minimum requirement of 30 semester credit hours for a graduate program that leads to a Master s degree. Both tracks introduce and reinforce competencies in scientific methodologies, critical thinking, experimental design and data analysis, and communication expected of research scientists. MS Radiologica Science-Medical Health Physics years CAMPEP - completion of a master s program will take two academic years. Significant deviations from this period should be justified. MS Biomedical Engineering Meets/exceeds the minimum required semester credit hour requirement (30 sch) for a graduate program. These 30 SCH prepare and train our students for research and employment in the field of Academic research, Clinical Investigation and Translational science. PhD Biomedical Engineering Years The PhD program is 82 SCHs, meeting the minimum requirement of 70 SCH for doctoral programs. The 12 hours above the minimum included in the program plan of study introduce and reinforce competencies in engineering, biology, and analytical skills expected of research scientists. PhD Radiological 5 Years CAMPEP - A professional or doctorate program, consists of at least two years of didactic education followed by at least two years of clinical education. PhD Integrated Biomedical 6 Years Requirements for the PhD in the Integrated Biomedical (IBMS) Graduate Program meets the minimum required semester credit hour requirement (72 SCH) for a doctoral graduate program. Hours that equal or exceed the minimum SCH include intensive research courses and laboratory/experimental hours are necessary to prepare our student scientists for careers that might be found in academia, industry, or government. Credit hours include courses in Research and experimental design, statistical analysis, and bioethics. 3 Year to by School and Program Health San Dentistry Dentistry Doctor of Dental Surgery Years CODA--must include at least four academic years of instruction or its equivalent Year to by School and Program Health Professions BS Emergency Health The length of the Bachelor of Science in Emergency Health is 124 credit hours. This length is determined by the number of hours required for an applicant s paramedic certification (minimum of 30 credit hours). The number of hours from the Texas Core Curriculum as determined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (42 hours). And the number of hours offered by UT Health in the EHS BS curriculum to award the degree-completion (52 hours) Health Professions BS Medical Lab The BS in MLS is 126 SCH. Students graduating with a bachelor degree from a Texas institution are required to complete 42 SCH of Texas Core Curriculum as defined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). The science and math program prerequisites include 35 SCH. Fifteen of the 35 SCH are included in the Core SCH total as the natural sciences requirement. The program prerequisites provide sufficient background knowledge for the MLS program courses (64 SCH). The program prerequisites and MLS program courses are defined by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory (NAACLS) which accredits the MLS program and the eligibility requirements for the Medical Laboratory Scientist national certification examination offered by the Board of Certification of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. BS Respiratory Care months CoARC - The minimum length of the program must be two academic years of full-time instruction, or its equivalent. The program must ensure that the duration of the learning experiences (didactic, laboratory, and clinical) are sufficient for students to acquire the expected knowledge and competencies years
4 Year to by School and Program Health Professions Doctor of Physical Therapy CAPTE - curriculum is 100 hours. This amount of hours is necessary to cover foundational sciences, clinical sciences, and clinical rotations. The range for DPT programs across the country is very broad: from 25 credit hours to 258 credit hours. The median is 115 credit hours. One hundred credit hours is sufficient as graduate outcomes are excellent. Master of Occupational Therapy years These credit hours reflect all didactic coursework, level I, and Level II fieldwork and ensures student attain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for entry-level practice. The 101 credit hours reflect a curriculum that meets all educational accreditation standards set forth by the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) and is in line with the span of credit hours for other ACOTE accredited MOT programs. Master of Physician Assistant Studies years ARC-PA - curriculum is 126 hours. This amount of hours is necessary to cover foundational sciences, clinical preparatory instruction, and clinical rotations for supervised practice experiences. The range for PA programs across the country is very broad: from 60.8 credit hours to 162 credit hours. The mean is credit hours and the median is 104 credit hours. Standard deviations amongst programs is 27.4 credit hours. One hundred and twenty-six credit hours falls within the 75thpercentile of PA programs nationwide and our graduate outcomes are excellent. Year to by School and Program Long Medicine Doctor of Medicine years LCME must include 130 weeks of instruction or its equivalent Long Medicine Master of Deaf Education & Hearing Science CED -The two-year program consists of 36 semester credit hours of course work that includes observations, seminars, demonstrations, research opportunities, and practicum.

CCNE Standards for full-time master s level study state programs consist of 18 to 24 months of uninterrupted study. DNP Nursing Courses meet the required Nurse Practitioner (NTF, NONPF) and Nurse Executive competencies (AONE) and course credit numbers fall in the range of comparable nursing program in state and nation. CCNE Standards state post-master s DNP programs are to be designed based on the DNP candidate s prior education, experience and choice of specialization. CCNE states a minimum of 12 months of full-time, post masters study are necessary to acquire the doctoral level competencies. MSN Administration Management Courses meet the required Nurse Executive Competencies (AONE) and course credit numbers fall in the range of comparable nursing program in state and nation. CCNE Standards for full-time master s level study state programs consist of 18 to 24 months of uninterrupted study. Nursing MSN Clinical Nurse Leader Courses meet the required Clinical Nurse Leader Competencies and course credit numbers fall in the range of comparable nursing program in state and nation. CCNE Standards for full-time master s level study state programs consist of 18 to 24 months of uninterrupted study. MSN Nurse Practitioner Courses meet the required Nurse Practitioner competencies (NTF, NONPF) and course credit numbers fall in the range of comparable nursing program in state and nation. CCNE Standards for full-time master s level study state programs consist of 18 to 24 months of uninterrupted study. For Nurse Practitioner programs, there is an expectation that a minimum of 500 supervised direct patient care clinical hours is needed. Nursing The BSN is 120 SCH. Students take 60 SCH of prerequisite courses which include 42 SCH of Texas Core Curriculum. The program prerequisites provide sufficient background knowledge for the BSN program courses (60 SCH). The BSN courses meet the required competencies defined by Texas Board of Nursing and CCNE.
