9175 Acute care brochure.qxp_layout 1 06/09/ :06 Page 2 About Northumbria Foundation Group Northumbria Healthcare was chosen by NHS England to spearhead new ways of working and to do this we have set up the Northumbria Foundation Group. As set out in the NHS Five Year Forward View, acute care collaboration vanguards will design and spread excellence in hospital services and management across multiple geographic locations. There are three new approaches that will now be tested. 3
9175 Acute care brochure.qxp_layout 1 06/09/ :06 Page 3 Excellently performing individual NHS hospitals able to form NHS foundation groups to raise standards across a chain of hospitals (a model of hospital chains frequently used in other countries). Individual clinical services at local district general hospitals being run on-site by specialists from regional centres of excellence. Forming accountable clinical networks integrating care across district general hospitals and teaching hospitals for key services. Our vision To share expertise and knowledge so that, through true collaboration, we can improve patient care, experience and quality of service for the greater good of the NHS as a whole.
9175 Acute care brochure.qxp_layout 1 06/09/ :06 Page 4 Why join our group? We have worked hard over the years to become a top performing trust and were really honoured to have our work acknowledged with an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission. Our approach is very flexible and we work closely with our NHS partners to build relationships and really understand the nature of their local challenges.
9175 Acute care brochure.qxp_layout 1 06/09/ :06 Page 5 Working together to deliver best practice and drive innovation Northumbria Foundation Group has been created to help us, Northumbria Healthcare, share our knowledge, expertise and support; spreading this to other NHS organisations across the country. By sharing what we know and learning from one another, those in the foundation group will ensure any improvement is sustainable both financially and clinically. Northumbria Foundation Group will provide tailored packages of support that will meet individual trust s needs, recognising that there will be differentiating factors across the populations we serve. A range of clinical and corporate support services are available, all use proven best practice models to improve productivity and effectiveness. They will support you to continuously improve patient care and experience which will be the true measure of success. They will also support you to reduce costs and work more efficiently releasing funds that can be reinvested in frontline services. Together, through true collaborative working, those in the Northumbria Foundation Group will contribute to creating a more efficient and effective NHS.
9175 Acute care brochure.qxp_layout 1 06/09/ :06 Page 6 Consultancy support We will share our knowledge and expertise so you can benefit from tried and tested solutions that work within an NHS environment. We will work collaboratively with you to advise on how best to adapt and implement these to ensure they can be successfully embedded into your organisation. Support can be offered across both clinical and non-clinical areas and is available on a service by service or project by project basis. Contact us or visit our w
9175 Acute care brochure.qxp_layout 1 06/09/ :06 Page 7 Long-term partnerships We recognise that some of our partners may need long-term support, not only to help achieve their own short to medium-term goals, but also to think differently, innovatively and boldly - across organisational boundaries - to deliver the exciting ambitions outlined in the NHS Five Year Forward View. We have a very strong track record of partnership working and can offer a number of flexible solutions, working together to develop a long-standing relationship - whether that is through a formal management contract and operational service delivery, long-term advisory arrangements or working towards becoming a full part of the Northumbria Foundation Group - our focus is on collaboration. Business services We have many national business services with strong track records of delivery that can be made available to those within the group. Some of these services offer income generation which can be invested in frontline care. r website for more information
